Monthly Fiction Book Group
Tuesday, June 17, at 7 p.m.
Come to the UU fiction book group to discuss Kate Atkinson's latest book, Life After Life. Atkinson, who is noted for her quirky and original approaches, creates a Groundhog Day time loop in which her heroine, born in 1910, keeps dying and returning to the turbulent events of the twentieth century to experience the alternate courses her life might have taken. The novel is often funny, sometimes harrowing, but always thought-provoking. Join us for a stimulating discussion.

Panhandle Pride 2014

Sunday, June 22 - noon to 6 PM
Memorial Park (near AC)

We need YOU
to volunteer!

When our Fellowship earned recognition
a year ago from the Unitarian Universalist Association as a Welcoming Congregation, we committed to being an inclusive Beloved Community.

Our commitment requires action.
So let's demonstrate to the LGBTQ community that we mean what we say by supporting Panhandle Pride!

Here are ways you can help:

  1. Come early on Sunday morning to save us a spot; bring tables, chairs, and supplies; and set up our booth;
  2. Staff the booth during the hours of the Pride celebration; and/or
  3. Stay until the end of the event at 7 (and a little bit later) to take down our booth and bring things back to the Fellowship.
As in years past, Rev. Bernie Barbour of MCC will officiate at a mass wedding. Fellowship members and friends will again stand in support of these couples making life commitments and hold our Standing on the Side of Love placards. Let's have a strong showing from AUUF!

There will be a community potluck picnic in the early afternoon, with hot dogs and hot links provided by AUUF and Metropolitan Community Church (MCC). Bring a side dish to share! As an alternative, bring a picnic for you and your friends. Also, bring your own beverages, but no glass containers, please.

If you will help us - and show your support for the LGBTQ community - please contact Martha Baird or Terre Moore.

Welcome to the Amarillo
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

"Love is the doctrine of this church."

If you're seeking a place of belonging where you can be free from judgment because of your beliefs or whom you love, or you simply need the freedom to grow on your own spiritual and intellectual journey, the AUUF might very well be the place for you.

Join us this Sunday at the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4901 Cornell St. Come for either the 9:30 or 11 AM service - the content and format are the same. Childcare and school-age Children's Religious Education are provided during the 11 AM service only.

With a wide variety of events every week, we hope that you will find one or more that are of interest to you - come to learn, enjoy each other, and this week, hear a special concert. For a complete listing of events at the Fellowship, click on the Calendar icon to the left. Want more detail? Check both the News and the Events sections of our website, uuamarillo.org.

Also on our website, uuamarillo.org, you will find much more information about:
  • our faith, Unitarian Universalism,
  • our Fellowship,
  • our calendar, and
  • an ever-changing blog of news articles and items for thought which we believe are of interest to the liberal religious community.
All events are held at the Fellowship, 4901 Cornell St., unless otherwise noted. If you are unsure how to reach any of the individuals named as contacts, please email the AUUF office or call 806.355.9351 and leave a message. Your call will be returned during office hours, which are M-W-F from 9 AM to noon.

Unitarian Universalism:
15 Statements of Belief

"I am a UU because I am convinced I need other people who love what I love. I am a UU because I want to join hands with others to create a community where we grow spiritually, where we support one another, and where we work together to create a world in which everyone matters, everyone is free, everyone is respected, and everyone lives in peace. I am a UU because I have seen what love, understanding, and commitment can do. And finally, I am a UU because I am convinced that if we let the love in our hearts guide our ways, the possibilities before us are breathtaking."
