Great Decisions Discussion Group
Tuesday, May 20 from 7 - 8:30 PM
(1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month -
through June 17)

The topic for this meeting is Food and Climate. Even as a sixth of the world's population suffers from chronic hunger, a changing climate threatens to wreak havoc on already insecure and vulnerable populations. As food and water become scarce and once fertile land becomes barren, the U.S. finds itself faced with new challenges in securing the globe. The U.S. is getting ready, but can it lead the way to climate reform?

There will be a 30 minute interview aired by PBS shown prior to the discussion.

Communion at AUUF

Communion: Every 2nd & 4th Thursday 6:30-6:45 PM

Like other Unitarian Universalist congregations, the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship counts many Christians among our members. While our service of Communion is a meaningful expression of their faith and is intended to serve and affirm the spiritual needs of our Christian members, by no means is it restricted to Christians; all are welcome to participate in this ceremony of remembrance.

Sunday Worship
9:30 and 11 AM

May 18, 2014

David Green is
speaking on
Confessions of a Sinner, discussing traditional religious notions of sin, and comparing and contrasting sin - or "missing the mark" -
with the aim of living an ethical and moral life.

May 25, 2014  Askville. In a departure from the usual sermon/message,
David Green
will field questions on religion, ethics, and social issues posed by members of the congregation during the service. Cards will be provided to write questions on and then collected. David will respond to questions on cards chosen at random.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to ask our minister's perspective on your most significant theological or philosophical query.

June 1, 2014
David Green and others will lead
Flower Communion,
a traditional
Unitarian Universalist
observance.
A flower is brought by each person in the congregation to a common vase during the worship space, and then blessed and redistributed. The service symbolizes our variety as unique and beautiful beings and our acceptance of one another as a lovely bouquet.

Flower Communion
Sunday, June 1
9:30 and 11 AM

Flower Communion
is a ritual that celebrates beauty, human uniqueness, diversity, and community.

In this ceremony, everyone in the congregation brings a flower of any type; live cut or artificial. For those who forget to bring a flower - and for our guests - extra flowers will be made available.

Each person will place the flower on the altar in a shared vase. The congregation and minister bless the flowers and they are redistributed. Each person brings home a different flower than the one he or she brought.

Please join us in this lovely ritual by bringing a flower on Sunday, June 1, as we celebrate the unique beauty and diversity of our beloved community.
