Social Action Committee Update
|
Watch for further announcements and a collection bin for us to gather children's hygiene products (toothbrushes, tear-free shampoo and soap, etc.) for donation to Martha's Home. We will provide a list of items needed in the very near future. We will engage in this ongoing project instead of a holiday drive to benefit either Martha's Home or Another Chance House; both have indicated that such support throughout the year will be of greater benefit to their clients.
Tentative plans include a voter registration and informational day during January 2014. Watch for updates.

The Fellowship is officially welcoming our newest members with a special ceremony during worship. Every new member who has joined since our most recent celebration last March will be recognized and affirmed. OWL Sexuality Education Program for children in grades K-1 OR 4-6
PARENTS - The OWL curriculum can help you educate your children about bodies, babies, birth, and families.
Knowing that parents are the primary sexuality educators for their children, you will be actively involved in this nationally-acclaimed program as your child learns through songs, stories, activities and at-home projects that promote family dialogue. If you are considering enrolling your child/children in this program, be sure to plan to attend the first Parent Meeting on Sunday afternoon, January 19. At that time the interested families will decide whether we will first offer the K-1 or the 4-6 age group curriculum. A Parent/Child Meeting will be held Sunday, January 26 (afternoon) for all families who decide to enroll. Both orientation sessions are required for a child to participate.
You may order the Parent Guide to Our Whole Lives at any time. The Guide covers both elementary age groups.

Take part in our Worship Services
|
It's an exciting time in the life of the Fellowship and Worship is no exception! We are looking for people who would like to serve with the Worship Committee - or would like to contribute to our Worship Services in some other way. Here are some options: - Would you like to read a meditation? Would one of your children like to read a story or poem?
- Would you like to lead worship?
- Would you like to suggest songs for congregational singing?
- Would you or someone you know be good at giving the Children's Moment?
- Do you play an instrument or sing? Does your child play an instrument or sing?
You may have ideas to share like a possible guest speaker or a recorded musical selection, a poem or meditation...all those contributions are important. If any of this sounds intriguing to you, we would love to talk to you! Contact: Kristy Fuller

Lower your taxes
Help AUUF grow
It's no secret that our Fellowship is growing and we love it! The Stewardship Committee wants you to be aware that recent tax law changes once again allow AUUF members and friends who are over 70½ years of age to revisit your IRAs and consider the possibility of donating 'qualified distributions' directly from your IRA to the Fellowship. An end of year IRA donation can lower your tax bill for 2013 and can be the seed money for future growth plans being developed by the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee. Since by law you have to take a distribution, why not consider donating all or part of it to the Fellowship rather than have it add to your income thereby increasing your taxable income and your tax bill? See more details by clicking IRA donation.
