Welcome back!  For an update to the beginning of the year, and a welcome from Ms. Therrell, click HERE.

In This Issue
Power School Parent Portal
Information informing you how to log on to the Parent Portal in Power School was included in your back-to-school packet sent home on Monday, August 29. In addition to the many forms included in that packet, all families are asked to use Power School to electronically update each student's Emergency Care Form. This document can be accessed through the left side of the Parent Portal under Navigation. Click Demographic Change to access the Emergency Care Form.

In addition to the Emergency Care Form, we would also like for you to update your Ethnicity, Race & Language, Medical Information, and Parent Directory information.

Parent Directory: As of September 9, we will be pulling information related to the Parent Directory from Power School in preparation of printing this year's school directory. It is very important that each family verify this information and make sure you indicate the information you do/do not want included. EACH entry should have a YES or NO beside it.

IMPORTANT
If it is necessary for a child to leave school before dismissal time, we ask that the parent write a note to the teacher informing the teacher of the need to release the student. Teachers will then forward this note to the office so everyone is aware of this change. If an email is sent, please make sure that the office is included in your distribution list. The email for official school notifications this year should be stann@stann.org. Along that line, due to the busy nature of preparation for dismissal, we cannot guarantee that any email received the last 30 minutes of the day will be acknowledged prior to dismissal. If your plans change during that time frame, it is best to call the school.

When picking up children early, parents must come to the office to sign out your child, at which time office personnel will call for the student.

As always, if you have any questions, call the school office.

Music to Our Ears
Third and Fourth Graders had a special treat in Music class today. Not only were they greeted by our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Gillespie, but they enjoyed a strings presentation by Mr. David Cho. Mr. Cho teaches stringed instruments at Saint Rita Catholic School. We would like to offer a stringed instrument enrichment class here at Saint Ann Catholic School. Be on the lookout for further information about such an enrichment opportunity.

Everyone has a voice at St. Ann! Rehearsals for our children's and youth choirs start Wednesday, September 7th.  Joyful Noise, for children in 2nd-6th grades, rehearses 6-6:45 and 4 Hymn, for students in 7th-12th grades, rehearses 6:45-7:45.  We rehearse every Wednesday and the choirs lead the music at one mass per month.  Most of our participants sing but some play instruments as well, this is a wonderful way for young people to explore and participate in the liturgy.  Questions?
