A Message from the Principal
Did you know that today is the last day for our 8th graders, and that their graduation will take place tomorrow evening following the 5:30pm Mass? And how about those kindergarten students who celebrated their last day as kindergarten students today! Some details surrounding these events can be found in Ms. Therrell's MESSAGE for the week. You will also find information surrounding Field Day and a comment about the Enrollment Management Team parent Satisfaction Survey that will be coming your way.

Annual Appeal Update
Thank you to those families who have donated to our Annual Appeal.  We are on our way to reaching our goal of $30,000. We are striving for 100% participation from our families - we are currently at 24%.  

Class percentages for participation as of today are listed below. Today was the deadline for donations to count toward a class pizza party. CONGRATULATIONS to the 2nd grade for their strong showing! They will be treated to pizza on Monday!

Catholic Daughters Essay Competition Results
Saint Ann Catholic School students have again taken top honors in the annual Catholic Daughters of the Americas writing contest! Students in grades 4 through 7 wrote essay and poetry entries for a Language Arts Enrichment assignment. This year's topics were "We Are Stewards of God's Creation"and "How Do We Care for the Environment?"
 
In the first division, which includes grades 4 and 5, one of our students placed second in the essay competition. In the poetry competition, our students took first and second place.  In the second division, which includes grades 6 and 7, our students won first, second and third place awards in the essay division, and a third place in the poetry division.
 
The awards are as follows:

First place local contest entries were entered into the Catholic Daughters state level competition.  Nicole Carnero won first place at the state level for her essay, which will now be entered into the national contest, to be judged in July.  Congratulations to all our winners!

FACTS Re-Enrollment
Re-enrollment preference letters to verify the information contained in FACTS data base were sent out earlier this week to all families currently using the FACTS Tuition Management System. Your deductions for next year will begin July, 2016. Please return your signed notice and let us know if any adjustments need to be made to your payment schedule by June 15.  

Reminders:
  • Tuition for K-8 begins July 2016 and will be spread over 12 months;
  • Tuition for families with preschool students ONLY begins August 2016 and are spread over 10 months;  
  • Annual payments are due July 1, 2016 (full tuition will be deducted on this date if you chose this option);
  • Semi annual payments are due July 1, 2016 and December 1, 2016. 
If you did not receive a re-enrollment letter, contact the school office immediately. If you are not paying through FACTS, your payment in full must be received in the school office by June 22, 2016.
 
End-of-Year Picnic and PTO Elections - June 13
 Mark your calendars for our traditional end-of-year picnic in Father Beattie Hall (the gym) Monday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. We will also be holding elections for the PTO board at this event. All families are invited for food and fellowship (and casting ballots!). Hot dogs, chips, fruit and popsicles will be served. As always, we need volunteers to set up, prepare food, serve and clean up! To sign up, go to:

2016-2017 School Supply Kits - PreK to Grade 8 - Available for Ordering  
Our online school supply shopping experience with Staples continues to be live. We have already sold many kits! Shop ahead of time to order your schoolkit, customized by the classroom teacher at each grade level. The link for current or new families is :  http://www.shopttkits.com/ and our school code is: 65596. The sale will run from now to June 24.
 
A portion of the money raised from sales of the kits will go back to the school for replenishing items throughout the year. If you order, your child's kit will be delivered directly to Saint Ann School before the first day of school. REMEMBER TO BUY FOR YOUR CHILD'S GRADE IN THE FALL. Prices per kit will vary depending on grade level ($45-$65).

Tennis Early Bird Sign Up for 2016-2017 
Shortly after the beginning of the school year, tennis begins.  In an effort to plan ahead we are attaching information for anyone whose children would like to participate. Tennis is open to students in grades 2 through 8. Click HERE for additional information.

In the coming year, Mr. Peterson and Mr. Greco will be organizing this event, along with the assistance of several additional helpers. 

Medication Pick-Up
Just a reminder, if your child has medication kept in the clinic, it must be picked up by a parent. Please plan to stop by the clinic to pick up your child's medication on the last day of school. Unclaimed items will be disposed of on June 30th.

You will need new authorizations for the 2016-2017 school year.  Here's the LINK for the forms you will use. If your child has asthma you'll need the asthma action plan, as well the inhaler authorization.  If your child has a food allergy, you will need the allergy action plan in addition to the Epinephrine authorization and the antihistamine authorization. For all other medications the medication authorization is sufficient.

End of Year  
Grades 1 through 7
These students will continue with school through June 16, when they will be dismissed at 11:30am to begin their summer vacation.
 
Extended Day
Extended day ends on Wednesday, June 15 (Thursday, June 9 for Kindergarten students).

School EOY Obligations for  ALL:
Please take inventory of all that must be completed or fulfilled before 8th grade graduation or the last day of school:
  • All outstanding tuition for this school year must be paid;
  • All extended day fees must be paid;
  • All library books must be returned (if lost, there is a book fee to be paid);
  • All text books must be turned in (payment must be made for all replacement books that were issued throughout the year and not returned);
  • Outstanding Service-to-School hours completed or a monetary contribution of $10.00 per hour made in place of hours;
  • Receipts for reimbursement must be submitted by June 10.
The final report card will be mailed to parents who have taken care of all of the above. The school will hold report cards and all transcripts that need to be transferred until all obligations to the school have been satisfied. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the school office.

In addition to the above, we would also like to remind you that the fiscal year ends on June 30, 2016.  Any reimbursements for this school year MUST be submitted to the office by June 20. Remember that any PTO reimbursements must have the signature of the coordinator of the event you are requesting reimbursement from and the PTO Treasurer. Checks are printed on Tuesday and Thursday ONLY.

Volunteer Requirements
All parents must be fully compliant with Diocesan Child Protection requirements if you wish to volunteer where supervision of students is involved. Compliance consists of attending a VIRTUS Child Protection seminar, undergoing two background checks and filling out additional miscellaneous paperwork. Packets of paperwork can be obtained from the school office.  


 
When visiting/assisting at the school you must sign-in at the front office upon arrival. Volunteers will be given a pass. The pass alerts the faculty and students that you are an approved visitor.

Items to be included in our weekly newsletter must be submitted to jkarinshak@stann.org by Wednesday noon of each week in order to be included in that week's edition. All submissions must be in print ready form.  Any items received after the deadline will be included in the following issue.
