A Message from the Principal
Ms. Therrell's message for this week highlights the many exciting events that took place this past week. She also touches on our current Annual Appeal and upcoming PTO meetings . Don't miss out on all that is going on at Saint Ann School. You can review her message HERE.

Annual Appeal Update
Thank you to those families who have donated to our Annual Appeal.  We are on our way to reaching our goal of $30,000. We are striving for 100% participation from our families - we are currently at 15%.  Please take a few minutes to consider making a donation. Any amount is appreciated! Make sure to read Ms. Therrell's message of the week to see how your donations will be used to benefit Saint Ann School. The class with the greatest percentage of participation will win a pizza party! The deadline for the pizza contest is June 10.

In This Issue
FACTS Re-Enrollment
Re-enrollment preference letters to verify the information contained in FACTS data base will be sent out later today to all families currently using the FACTS Tuition Management System. Your deductions for next year will begin July, 2016. Please return your signed notice and let us know if any adjustments need to be made to your payment schedule by June 15.  

Reminders:
  • Tuition for K-8 begins July 2016 and will be spread over 12 months;
  • Tuition for families with preschool students ONLY begins August 2016 and are spread over 10 months;  
  • Annual payments are due July 1, 2016 (full tuition will be deducted on this date if you chose this option);
  • Semi annual payments are due July 1, 2016 and December 1, 2016. 
If you did not receive a re-enrollment letter, contact the school office immediately. If you are not paying through FACTS, your payment in full must be received in the school office prior to July 1, 2016.
 
Body Back Fundraiser Class
Get fit and support Saint Ann Catholic School at the same time.  Join FIT4MOM Arlington for a Body Back HIIT Class (High Intensity Interval Training) on Saturday, June 4th from 7:00 to - 8:00am in Saint Ann's School Gym - ladies only and child free.  Cost: $15 donation to the school. Please make check payable to Saint Ann Catholic School.  All you need is some water and an exercise mat. Body BackŪ is a results-based workout designed for moms who want their body back! Honoring All Saint Ann Parish Graduates
Saint Ann Parish will have the Blessing of the Graduates at all Masses this weekend, June 4/5. The blessing is for all 2016 graduates (middle school, high school or college). We encourage all graduates to wear their cap and gowns, if they have them, when they come to Mass. The prayer blessing will take place after communion.  

Track and Cross Country Awards and Ice Cream Party
The end of year party for all students who participated in Fall/Spring Track and/or Cross Country will be on Monday, June 6, in the parish hall immediately after school.  Enjoy ice cream and some team camaraderie before summer begins!  We hope to see everyone who made practices and/or the meet(s).
 
REMINDER: A note to dismiss your track/cross country star to this event must be received in the school office before noon on Monday if they are to be released to this event. All students with permission will be dismissed to the library at the end of the day and will be escorted to the parish hall. Only students who are listed on our checklist will be permitted to attend.

PTO Board Elections and General Meeting
The PTO Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the board positions of president, vice president, treasurer and secretary for the 2016-17 school year. A detailed job description for these positions is attached below. If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please contact Jennifer Hughes, chair of the Nominating Committee, at jendhatt@hotmail.com. Up to three candidates will be accepted for each position. Nominations must be received no later than Thursday, June 9. Ballots will be available at the end-of-year school picnic on Monday, June 13. To learn more about the elections and other recent and upcoming PTO activities, please plan on attending the PTO General Meeting on Monday, June 6, at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. The meeting will begin with socializing and wine & cheese, so please be sure to join us! 

 
Field Day - K-8 - June 8 
Field Day for our K-8 students is just around the corner. Assistance is still needed from many to help make this day a successful event. Follow this LINK to see where your services can best be utilized.

2016-2017 School Supply Kits - PreK to Grade 8 - Available for Ordering  
Our online school supply shopping experience with Staples continues through June 24! Shop ahead of time to order your school supply kit for the next school year, customized by the classroom teacher at each grade level. The link to place an order can be found HERE. Our school code is: 65596.
 
All orders placed will be delivered directly to the school in August and will be waiting for your child when they return to school in the fall. REMEMBER to purchase supplies for the grade your child will be enrolled in in the fall. Prices per kit will vary depending on grade level ($45-$65), but avoiding store lines the last week of summer vacation is priceless.

Medication Pick-Up
Just a reminder, if your child has medication kept in the clinic, it must be picked up by a parent. Please plan to stop by the clinic to pick up your child's medication on the last day of school. Unclaimed items will be disposed of on June 30th.

You will need new authorizations for the 2016-2017 school year.  Here's the LINK for the forms you will use. If your child has asthma you'll need the asthma action plan, as well the inhaler authorization.  If your child has a food allergy, you will need the allergy action plan in addition to the Epinephrine authorization and the antihistamine authorization. For all other medications the medication authorization is sufficient.

End of Year  
Band
This year's band will come to an end with their concert this evening, June 3. The concert will take place in Fr. Beattie Hall beginning at 7:00pm.
 
Kindergarten 
Kindergarten will end their year on Friday, June 10. Following Mass they will participate in an End of Year Celebration. Students will be dismissed to their parents following this event. Extended day will NOT be provided to kindergarten students on Friday. Their last day for extended day is Thursday, June 9.
 
Grade 8
What a busy time for these students. They will be preparing for their graduation throughout the week, attend their retreat that will take place in Emmetsburg, PA on Tuesday, June 7 followed by the 8th Grade dance, participate in Field Day on Wednesday, June 8, and will end their week on Friday, June 10, with Mass, the Passing-On Ceremony , and enjoy a lunch in their honor sponsored by the 7th grade. Graduation will take place on Saturday evening, June 11, following the 5:30pm Mass in Saint Ann Church. A reception will follow the graduation
 
Grades 1 through 7
These students will continue with school through June 16, when they will be dismissed at 11:30am to begin their summer vacation.
 
Extended Day
Extended day ends on Wednesday, June 15 (Thursday, June 9 for Kindergarten students).

School Obligations for  ALL:
Please take inventory of all that must be completed or fulfilled before 8th grade graduation or the last day of school:
  • All outstanding tuition for this school year must be paid;
  • All extended day fees must be paid;
  • All library books must be returned (if lost, there is a book fee to be paid);
  • All text books must be turned in (payment must be made for all replacement books that were issued throughout the year and not returned);
  • Outstanding Service-to-School hours completed or a monetary contribution of $10.00 per hour made in place of hours;
  • Receipts for reimbursement must be submitted by June 10.
Temporary Full-Time Administrative Assistant Needed at Saint Ann Parish
Saint Ann Parish seeks to hire a full-time, 35 hour per week, Administrative Assistant for the Parish Office.  This position will be temporary and lasts about 3 months, possibly mid-July to mid-October of this year. 
 
This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Job responsibilities include answering phones, typing, taking messages, booking facility usage, preparing liturgy guides for worship as needed, acting as support to current parish office staff, and working closely with all staff and parishioners. A sincere commitment to understand and respond effectively to people's needs is a must for this position. This position requires the ability to multi-task and effectively deal with distractions and interruptions.  An extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel are a must. A comprehensive understanding of current technology and how to troubleshoot basic computer problems is a plus, but not required.  Ability to speak and write in Spanish are a plus, but not required.

Student Artwork Gifts for Sale
The Saint Ann Catholic School gift shop is officially open! You may have seen some beautiful items for sale at the spring fling a few weeks ago. If you didn't have a chance to purchase something then, you still have a chance! Our art teacher, Mrs. Chapman, has put our children's artwork on items that we are selling for the rest of the year to benefit our teachers' professional development. They include:

Volunteer Requirements
All parents must be fully compliant with Diocesan Child Protection requirements if you wish to volunteer where supervision of students is involved. Compliance consists of attending a VIRTUS Child Protection seminar, undergoing two background checks and filling out additional miscellaneous paperwork. Packets of paperwork can be obtained from the school office.  


 
When visiting/assisting at the school you must sign-in at the front office upon arrival. Volunteers will be given a pass. The pass alerts the faculty and students that you are an approved visitor.

Basketball Skills Camp 
Come learn fundamental basketball skills in a fun filled environment.Ms. Conques will be hosting two week long basketball camps this summer! Be sure to click HERE for more information and registration information. 

Saint Ann Parish Vacation Bible School
Saint Ann Catholic Church will hold Vacation Bible School August 1 through 5. VBS is a week-long mini-camp designed to help your child learn more about God. This year, the theme is Barnyard Roundup: Jesus Gathers Us Together. Camp is open to rising kindergarten through 5th graders. Click HERE for additional information/registration form.

Saint Agnes has put together another great summer camp program.

Bishop Ireton Summer Camps
Bishop Ireton's summer camp brochure is ready and attached HERE for your consideration. They offer camp opportunities for students in grades 1 to 12.     

CATHOLIC DRAMA & ART CAMPS
This camp has been providing day camps to students in Pre-K through high school in Theatre and Art for over 10 years. All instructors are faithful Catholics and VIRTUS approved. Camp Veritas 
This is a one-week "pray-and-play" sleep away summer camp for teens going into 7th through 12th grades. It will be held at Summit Lake Camp in Emmitsburg, MD from July 31 to August 6. Details and enrollment forms can be found at www.campveritas.com.

Marymount University Summer Camp
Beginning July, Marymount University will start a new summer camp for all children. Campers will have choices of activities from exploring science, to academic enrichment and enjoyable games.
