2016-2017 School Supply Kits - PreK to Grade 8 - Available for Ordering
|
Good news! Our online school supply shopping experience with Staples is live! Shop ahead of time to order your school supply kit for the next school year, customized by the classroom teacher at each grade level. The link to place an order can be found HERE. Our school code is: 65596.
The sale will run from May 26 to June 24. A portion of the money raised from sales of the kits will come back to the school for replenishing items throughout the year. If you place an order, your child's kit will be delivered directly to Saint Ann School before the first day of school, waiting for them when they return on August 29. REMEMBER TO BUY SUPPLIES FOR YOUR CHILD'S GRADE IN THE FALL. Prices per kit will vary depending on grade level ($45-$65), but avoiding store lines the last week of summer vacation is priceless.

Supply lists for each grade will be posted on the website and can be accessed HERE. The lists are for those families who do not wish to order a kit but prefers to purchase your own supplies.

Rosary Garden Work Day
|
Since last week's Rosary Garden work day was rained out , we will try again tomorrow, May 28, from 9:00 to -12:00pm. If you enjoy working outside in the garden, plan to stop by and help keep our garden beautiful. A great opportunity to earn those much needed STS hours for those of you who are not available Monday through Friday. Contact Hilary Anderson at blueskies100700@aol.com if interested.

Recycling of Cartridges/Toners Ends May 31
|
Mrs. Cortes is ending her recycling of computer ink cartridges and toners for this year on May 31. All recycling boxes will be removed from the church and school until we resume school in August, 2016.
Our last collection of cartridges will be sent out the first week of June. Additional credit points will be used to order items of interest over the summer. If you are still collecting cartridges/toners, please submit them to the proper collection boxes prior to this deadline, or keep them until September.
We wish to thank everyone who participated in collecting cartridges for us and hope you will continue to do so when we resume in the fall.

Educational Outfitters Opening June 1
|
Megan Donnelly, our Educational Outfitters representative, is opening a store! The store is still a work in progress and is currently open limited hours! If you would like to stop by, call or text Megan at 703-350-1630 first. Regular hours will begin on June 1. The store is located in the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center at 2499 N. Harrison Street Lower Level #9. Hours will be Tuesday-Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-3pm, closed Sunday and Monday.

Body Back Fundraiser Class
|
Get fit and support Saint Ann Catholic School at the same time. Join FIT4MOM Arlington for a Body Back HIIT Class (High Intensity Interval Training) on Saturday, June 4th from 7:00 to - 8:00am in Saint Ann's School Gym - ladies only and child free. Cost: $15 donation to the school. Please make check payable to Saint Ann Catholic School. All you need is some water and an exercise mat. Field Day - K-8 - June 8
|
Field Day for our K-8 students will be held at Bishop O'Connell High School on June 8. Assistance is still needed from many of our parents to help make this day a successful event. We will need assistance at school prior to departing for O'Connell and at O'Connell to assist with the various games, prepare and help with lunch, etc. Follow this LINK to see where your services can best be utilized.
All students in grades K-8 must have a signed permission form on file in the office prior to the event. If you have not yet submitted your form, please do so next week. Students who do not return the permission form will not be permitted to attend the event.

Temporary Full-Time Administrative Assistant Needed at Saint Ann Parish
|
Saint Ann Parish seeks to hire a full-time, 35 hour per week, Administrative Assistant for the Parish Office. This position will be temporary and lasts about 3 months, possibly mid-July to mid-October of this year.
This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Job responsibilities include answering phones, typing, taking messages, booking facility usage, preparing liturgy guides for worship as needed, acting as support to current parish office staff, and working closely with all staff and parishioners. A sincere commitment to understand and respond effectively to people's needs is a must for this position. This position requires the ability to multi-task and effectively deal with distractions and interruptions. An extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel are a must. A comprehensive understanding of current technology and how to troubleshoot basic computer problems is a plus, but not required. Ability to speak and write in Spanish are a plus, but not required.
Arrangements to train applicants will begin on a paid part-time basis immediately. Interested parties should submit a resume via email to applicants@stann.org.

Student Artwork Gifts for Sale
|
The Saint Ann Catholic School gift shop is officially open! You may have seen some beautiful items for sale at the spring fling a few weeks ago. If you didn't have a chance to purchase something then, you still have a chance! Our art teacher, Mrs. Chapman, has put our children's artwork on items that we are selling for the rest of the year to benefit our teachers' professional development. They include:
* 2016-20146-2017 calendars featuring 12 months of our students' artwork ($20)
* mugs featuring our kids' artistic 2013-14 depictions of endangered animals ($16)
* beautiful art-themed note cards with envelopes ($1 each) and postcards (3 for $1)

Volunteer Requirements
|
All parents must be fully compliant with Diocesan Child Protection requirements if you wish to volunteer where supervision of students is involved. Compliance consists of attending a VIRTUS Child Protection seminar, undergoing two background checks and filling out additional miscellaneous paperwork. Packets of paperwork can be obtained from the school office.
When visiting/assisting at the school you must sign-in at the front office upon arrival. Volunteers will be given a pass. The pass alerts the faculty and students that you are an approved visitor.

Basketball Skills Camp
|

Marymount University Summer Camp

Beginning July, Marymount University will start a new summer camp for all children. Campers will have choices of activities from exploring science, to academic enrichment and enjoyable games. Low camper to counselor ratio and a special catholic school rate is being offered.

Saint Agnes has put together another great summer camp program.

Bishop Ireton Summer Camps
Bishop Ireton's summer camp brochure is ready and attached HERE for your consideration. They offer camp opportunities for students in grades 1 to 12.
CATHOLIC DRAMA & ART CAMPS

Camp Veritas

Saint Ann Parish Vacation Bible School
Saint Ann Catholic Church will hold Vacation Bible School August 1 through 5. VBS is a week-long mini-camp designed to help your child learn more about God.
