Important for 5th Grade Families
Tdap Needed
Effective July 1, 2006, a booster dose of Tdap vaccine is required for all children entering the 6th grade.  This vaccine protects against Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis. These three diseases are all caused by bacteria. Diphtheria and Pertussis are spread from person to person. Tetanus enters the body through cuts, scratches, or wounds.  The protection of immunizations wanes after 10 years. Pertussis continues to circulate in this country.

When your child receives their Tdap, please ask for an updated immunization history and submit a copy to the office, keeping the original. The school office will need proof of vaccination by August 2016 in order for your child to enter 6th grade in the fall. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school nurses at schoolnurse@stann.org or 703-525-7599.

Volunteer Requirements
All parents must be fully compliant with Diocesan Child Protection requirements if you wish to volunteer where supervision of students is involved. Compliance consists of attending a VIRTUS Child Protection seminar, undergoing two background checks and filling out additional miscellaneous paperwork. Packets of paperwork can be obtained from the school office.

When visiting/assisting at the school you must sign-in at the front office upon arrival. Volunteers will be given a pass. The pass alerts the faculty and students that you are an approved visitor.
