PTO General Meeting
Our next PTO General Meeting will be held Monday, February 8, at 7:00 p.m, Parish Hall. Please join us for refreshments, PTO business updates, and a presentation on stress management for busy families. Kristen Masci, occupational therapist and director of Skills on the Hill, will discuss how our children are impacted by stress and what we can do to support them. Mrs. Masci will focus on recognizing signs of stress, listening to our bodies, using visual supports, managing transitions, and scheduling. Come learn how to use tools like exercise, breathing, and communication strategies to help our families to weather the storm. We will also touch on what resources are available at school and within the community. All meeting attendees will receive two service-to-school hours.

Lenten Sandwich Making Begins Thursday, February 11
As in past years, Saint Ann Catholic School will make sandwiches for the homeless and hungry as a Lenten service project. Over the six week Lenten period, two Saint Ann classes will prepare sandwiches each Thursday after school in the Parish Hall. Preschoolers contribute food but sandwich preparation is optional. The project takes about 30 minutes and results in about 300-400 sandwiches each week. The sandwiches will help feed the hungry in our community each week!  More details and permission slips will go home with each class as they are scheduled to make sandwiches. Please be on the lookout for the permission slips in coming weeks. Remember that students will not be permitted to stay for sandwich making if the permission slip has not been returned to the classroom teacher prior to the session.

Students in the classes making sandwiches each week will be assigned to donate either bread or lunch meat; Saint Ann PTO will donate the cheese. Parent volunteers from the assigned grades each week are needed to assist with this project.

The Lenten Sandwich making schedule, and details surrounding assistance needed, can be found HERE. Grades 8 and 1 will be making sandwiches for our first session on Thursday, February 11. Permission forms will be sent home via the classroom teacher or room parents, and can also be found HERE.

Please contact Amy Stephenson (703-527-2042) if you have any questions.

Come to the Resurrection
Lent is a time of penance, prayer, reflection and reconciliation.
For 20 years the interdenominational St. Patrick's Family Players have marked the Lenten and Easter seasons by performing the musical cantata "Resurrection."  From New England to California, from Ireland to Italy they have brought their musical performance and faith in the Resurrection not just to audiences in cathedrals and parish churches but to inmates in prison as well.

Told from the perspective of St. Peter, a prisoner about to be martyred, we learn not only of the anguish he felt for his denial of Jesus but also of his repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation with Jesus. The performance by the cast of more than 45 performers ages 2 to 85 is guaranteed to speak to all of us, because Peter's story of betrayal of the Lord followed by the promise of reconciliation is our story, too.                            Resurrection Flyer

Please join us on Sunday, February 14th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Church (5300 10th Street N.) for this inspiring performance.  The performance is free ... and eternally rewarding! Donations will be accepted.
