Lent is a time for sacrifice, discipline, reflection, and prayer as we prepare for the joy of Easter. During Lent in this Year of Faith, use silence, confession, the saints, faith witness, and the Eucharist to deepen and strengthen your Catholic faith.
Please note, our Lenten Penance Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00 PM
Stations of the Cross
Will be held at St. Benedict every Friday during Lent at 6:30 PM. Soup Supper will follow in the St. Francis room.
Lenten Retreat, Saturday, March 23rd, 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM
This year's discussion will focus on "Identifying the Fruits of our Suffering" and "Forgiveness = Love, Love = Forgiveness." Light breakfast will be served as well as a Pot Luck Luncheon. In addition, the Sisters from the Pauline Books and Media Store, will be onsite with an assortment of recent Catholic books and other media available for purchase.

STEWARDSHIP IN ACTION
Featured Ministry: Adoration
Can you "Watch one hour with Me...?
(Mt 6:21; 26:40)
Jesus asks for no gift other than the gift of ourselves; His generosity in return is limitless.
Let us open our hearts to the gift of Our Lord's grace and mercy. All are welcomed to St. Benedict's Perpetual Adoration Ministry! On January 9, 2013, our parish began adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St.Joseph Chapel.
You can answer Our Lord's plea by adoring before the Blessed Sacrament, anytime from Wednesday, 10 a.m. to Saturday, at 3 p.m. The only requirement is to devote one hour on a weekly basis to be the guardian before the exposed Eucharist. Click here for more information on Adoration.

GALA 2013 News
Date Change - Save the Date, Saturday, June 15th Greetings from the Spring Gala 2013 Committee!! As you know, we are working this year to raise funds for the St. Benedict Building Fund. Our success depends in large part on the assistance we hope to receive from each family. We are in need of donations for our Silent Auction. Maybe you or someone you know ... - owns a vacation home they might be willing to donate for a weekend or a week.
- owns a business in which a service or product could be donated.
- knows a restaurant chef who could prepare a meal for a dinner party.
- has season tickets to sporting events or cultural events and would be willing to donate tickets.
- and the list goes on and on ... such as concert tickets, dinner certificate, salon certificate, automobile services, sports camps, nature camps, sports lessons, music lessons, cakes, wine, painting, tree service, lawn service, party host, day trips, cruises, vacations, spa certificate, jewelry, house cleaning.
Some of the best-selling auction items are self-created items! Host a margarita party for 20 by your pool. Cater & Deliver the food for a Bunco party for 12. Throw a Backyard Barbeque for 60. Paint two rooms. Plant a rose garden. These auction items are fun, creative, and easy for anyone to participate in donating. Anything goes here so put your talent up for bid. George Fraggos is the Acquisitions Chair for the Gala Committee. Please contact George at 843-971-6744 or email him at margeo_fl@msn.com |
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
Youth Ministry is very excited to announce the race to get to Indianapolis, IN for the National Catholic Youth Conference November 21st - 24th, 2013. This conference happens every two years with over 20,000 youth from all over the US gathering for one amazing weekend.
During the weekend youth will hear national speakers and performers, attend Mass and Adoration, attend workshops and experience all of this with peers that share their faith.
The youth of St. Benedict need your help to get to the Catholic National Youth Conference. This is a very expensive trip with a cost of $800 per youth, so over the next few months youth ministry will be fundraising to help offset the cost. This will allow more of our youth to attend. St. Benedict has been very supportive of the youth in the past and with your help this too will be made possible.

I asked for Strength, and God gave me Difficulties to make me strong. I asked for Wisdom, and God gave me Problems to solve. I asked for Prosperity, and God gave me Work. I asked for Courage, and God gave me Danger to overcome. I asked for Love, and God gave me Troubled People to help. I asked for Favors, and God gave me Opportunities to do good works. I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed.
