Running for Homeless Pets
Help Support Team Foothills Animal Shelter
We are just a few days away from the Colfax Marathon! Team Foothills Animal Shelter is excited to be represented by nearly 100 runners and, so far, they have raised more than $3,500 to support the homeless pets at our Shelter. Why are they doing it? Click the image above or the link below to watch a video about why people are running for Foothills Animal Shelter!

Looking for a way to join in on the fun? Help us reach the fundraising finish line by picking a runner to support--or support the whole team--and make a donation to Team Foothills Animal Shelter! Care for more than 9,500 animals every year can be expensive--and that's where you can help. Please donate today to help homeless animals when they need it most!

Rabies Found in Jefferson County
First Evidence of Rabies Confirmed in Metro Denver Area
A second case of rabies was recently confirmed in Jefferson County (with a third case confirmed in Aurora). A skunk, found near the foothills, tested positive for the infectious disease. The first case, also found in a skunk, was reported just two weeks ago and was the first case ever confirmed in Jefferson County. Rabies is caused by a virus that affects the nervous system of humans and other mammals, and is almost always fatal.

With this news, we are encouraging all pet owners to make sure their animals are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. A rabies vaccine is an easy and effective way to protect both pets and humans from this deadly disease. Make sure to speak with your veterinarian about getting a rabies vaccine and keeping it updated. In addition, we offer rabies vaccinations at our weekly Vaccine, License & Microchip Clinics.

It's National Foster Care Month
Foster Care Volunteers Save Lives
May is National Foster Care Month! While most think of fostering human children, we want to give a big THANK YOU to our 178 foster volunteers that cared for 904 orphaned animals in 2015.

Our foster homes provide care and loving temporary homes to animals in need until they are ready for adoption. Do you want to make a difference in the life of an orphaned pet? Consider becoming a Foster Care volunteer!

Pet Licensing
Did you know 75% of all dogs within Jefferson County are not licensed? That means 3/4 of your dogs might not be able to ever get back home to you should they get lost. A license not only protects your beloved pet, but also supports Foothills Animal Shelter and the thousands of orphaned pets we care for each year. License Today
