Run for Homeless Pets in the Colfax Marathon
|
Join Team Foothills Animal Shelter
On your mark, get pets, GO! Foothills Animal Shelter is thrilled to once again partner with the Colfax Marathon, and we would like to invite YOU to run or walk to support the pets that will find help at our Shelter. From recruiting your friends to run with you, to asking your family to make a donation to your race campaign, there are tons of ways to show your support!
There are seven races to pick from including the Marathon, Half Marathon, Marathon Relay, Urban 10 Miler, the dog-friendly Colfax 5K and more. Whether you want to participate alone or as part of a relay team, consider running (or walking!) for homeless pets. Make sure to choose Foothills Animal Shelter as your charity partner when you register!
Don't want to run? You can still help by donating to Team Foothills Animal Shelter! All contributions will go to help us provide care for the orphaned pets that arrive at the Shelter every day of the year.

Former Ranch Dog Finds a New Job

Jack the Australian Shepherd Finds His Place
Back in 2010, an Australian Shepherd named Jack came to the Shelter when his family sold their ranch. He had spent the first several years of his life working as a ranch dog, herding cattle. This sweet guy went up for adoption and that's when he was spotted by Stephanie M. and her family. They wanted a dog, but already had very busy lives, so they wanted to adopt an older dog, one they didn't have to train. Jack fit the bill and they decided to take him home.
Six years later, Jack is thoroughly enjoying his second home. Stephanie says, "Jack has been a blessing to our family ever since we found him at Foothills Animal Shelter. Our oldest son, who has Asperger's syndrome, fell in love with Jack the moment they met and they have been best buddies ever since. Jack knows exactly what to do to remedy tears or bring the excitement level down a notch."

Happy National Volunteer Appreciation Week
Volunteers are an integral part of Foothills Animal Shelter and serve in 70 different roles throughout every department of the organization. Our amazing team of 465 volunteers put in more than 33,000 hours of service last year--the equivalent of 16 full-time staff positions! Volunteers can be found helping in a wide variety of ways: from distributing medications, to helping patrons find a furry family member, to driving Shelter animals to medical appointments. They collectively make our community a better place. Bow-wow, meow and thanks to them during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 10 - 16!
