German Shepherd Recovers from a Traumatic Experience
Crixus's first few hours at Foothills Animal Shelter were very dramatic, fast-paced and somewhat shocking. Tethered in the back of his previous owner's pickup truck while the owner was inside filling out surrender paperwork, Crixus tried to jump out of the pickup. The 4-year-old German Shepherd nearly hung himself because his tethered leash was too short to reach the ground. Thankfully, the Shelter's staff quickly sprang into action, cutting the dog loose and giving him CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The poor dog was then carried into the Shelter where his care continued with the Health Care Team until he stabilized.
