Have You Completed
the Survey?
If you did not get a chance to complete the Congregational Care Ministry Team's recent survey, please click the link below.
We completed this survey several years ago. but have many new members and you might want to change what you put on the last survey.
As a church family, we all take care of each other. We all have different likes, strengths and time constraints which allow us to participate differently in the care of others - from providing transportation, to hospital visitation, to writing cards, making phone calls, etc.
It only takes about 5 minutes to complete the survey and will help the Congregational Care Team better minister to the whole congregation.
Please click below to
download.
Completed surveys can be returned to Marilyn Hill or to the church office.

May Book Club
Sunday, May 22
by William R. Leibowitz
Described as "a new twist on the thriller" and "highly original," William R. Leibowitz's debut novel Miracle Man is our next selection for book club. According to Leibowitz's biography blurb, in the midst of his career as an entertainment/media attorney, he wrote
Miracle Man "because of its humanistic and spiritual messages and because he feels that in our current times--when meritless celebrity has eclipsed accomplishment and the only heroes are those based on comic books, the world needs a real hero." Miracle Man by William R. Leibowitz is available at books stores, your local library, and other book sources.
Book Club will meet for lunch and discussion at Panera Bread (1624 E. 15th St., just west of Utica on the south side of 15th St.) immediately following worship service (about 12:15pm).
If you are interested in more information about Book Club, click (name) to contact Fritha Ohlson.

2016 Birthday Endowment Fund
A meaningful way to celebrate your Birthday this year is to donate an amount equal to your new age to the Endowment Fund.
This donation is also a wonderful way to honor others such as children, grandchildren and friends and allows the church to have funds available for special projects.
Birthday Fund envelopes are available on the Narthex table. Checks can be made payable to College Hill and marked "Birthday Fund" on the memo portion of the check.

Midway through this month we will transition from the season of Easter into the season of Pentecost. The liturgical focus of this season deals mostly with how we are called to "be" the church. And as always, that includes how we put our "being" into "doing" as a congregation. Dana Livingston is the lead planner from the Worship & Music ministry team for this special service on the Day of Pentecost, Sunday, May 15.
Later in the month, I invite the entire congregation and friends to my home on Sunday, May 29, for the 5th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Picnic. For all the pertinent details, please read the article below in this Newsletter.
You may remember that we had to skip the Picnic last year due to my being on sabbatical. Because of that, many of us are really looking forward to this event this year. Here's the new part: the Session of the church has approved moving our morning service of worship from the church to my back yard. We will try hard to accommodate those with mobility issues. You can sit on my NEW DECK (500 sq. ft.) overlooking the trees, pond, and hills, as we participate in a service appropriate to the setting . NOTE: There will be NO worship or church school at the church that morning. If you have any concerns about this, please speak with me or a member of the Worship & Music ministry team, moderated by P.J. Brobston. If you would like to carpool out to my home, cars will be leaving the church parking lot by 10:30 am. This will be a wonderful opportunity simply to relax with one another, worship outdoors, share fellowship, eat good food, and get to know each other better. There will be a rain plan.
We are truly blessed in so many ways here at College Hill, especially in the authentic, caring relationships being formed or renewed. With many new members, however, it's getting a bit harder to get to know everyone. To help, the will be a New Member Luncheon (new members who have joined within the past few years and the Elders on the Session are invited). Let us all continue to strive to build meaningful relationships with one another.
Blessings,
Rev. Todd Freeman

Combined Offering
this Sunday, May 1

This May, the Outreach and Mission team is
combining our 1st and 5th Sunday offerings and dedicating the combined collection to Teacher/Staff Appreciation week at Kendall Whittier Elementary. Roughly 130 dedicated professionals nurture and educate 1,200 students. This makes them one of the largest schools in Oklahoma, but they lack the financial resources that many of us take for granted. Please help Outreach and Mission kick off Teacher/Staff Appreciation week with gusto.
Please bring ready-to-eat breakfast items and snacks. Gift cards, especially from PERRY's at 11th and Lewis, will also be well received.

Volunteers Needed
Tulsa Pride Festival
Saturday, June 4, 2016
Please join College Hill and other churches and community groups to take pride in our inclusiveness as a city and community and to brag about the strength of diversity. Come march with us in the 2016 Tulsa Gay Pride Parade.
College Hill will have a truck in the parade that needs riders. We need plenty more walkers
and for those of you who can't make the whole parade, we could use a large, supportive crowd. The parade kicks off from Boston Avenue Methodist Church at 13th and Boston at 6:00 p.m. We will be gathering around 5:00 pm. Click (name) to contact Jeff and Tim Smith-Ream if you would like more information.
Booth Volunteers Needed ASAP!
In addition to participating in the parade, College Hill will have a booth at the Pride Festival from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m. We need volunteers to work one-hour shifts at our booth inside the air-conditioned Equality Center. We will have fans, brochures, and candy to distribute; you bring the warm welcome of College Hill with you! Click (name) to contact Jeff Ream with any questions and to volunteer.
Everyone that can participate is appreciated!

2016 Finance & Stewardship
Quarterly Update
The Finance & Stewardship Ministry Team remains committed to keeping the congregation informed about the status of our budget at points throughout the year, including updates on overall giving. Through March, 2016, we are running behind in Pledges & Contributions, an approximately $2,629 shortfall. Loose offerings are over budget by $139.
Fortunately, ministry team and office expense spending remains under-budget (by $434), resulting in an operating deficit at the end of March. Overall stewardship by both the congregation and the ministry teams remains reasonably healthy. However, ministry team spending is expected to increase through the remainder of the fiscal year.
Therefore, if your pledged giving has fallen behind, and you expect it to continue to fall behind this summer, as often occurs, please allow this to serve as a gentle reminder to resume offerings to the church.
We appreciate everyone's support in meeting College Hill's financial goals!

Speaking Up Spiritually:
How and When
by Ellen Debenport - April 26, 2016
As I've said before, I believe those of us on a non-traditional, non-evangelical, even non-Christian spiritual path are shy about sharing our beliefs with other people.
For fear of being judged.
For fear of losing friends or family.
For fear of proselytizing.
Maybe even for fear we're wrong.
So when is it a good idea to share your ideas about spiritual truth with someone, and when is it better left unsaid? I've come up with a rule of thumb, but let me elaborate first on why we're shy, why people who have deep and profound experiences of the Presence might hesitate to share their point of view.

Penny Fund
Thank you for your donations to the Penny Fund! You are always welcome to donate your pennies (or any loose change), in the red container on the Narthex table. This money goes toward funding many College Hill events/needs!
