Monthly Practice - Walking Meditation
As we move into fall, the temperatures drop, the leaves change, and our natural cycles call for us to slow down. Fall is the ideal season for you to listen to this call to retreat and moderate your pace from the usual hustle and bustle of summer activities. Now is the perfect time to meditate and tune into these retreating signs of nature. Meditation is said to:
- Relieve illness symptoms
- Relieve daily stress
- Reduce high blood pressure
- Improve concentration
- Improve mood
- Increase awareness
- Promote mindfulness

Oct 12 - John Rock/Brevard Hike
Join this amazing hike and take in a fall vista that will leave your spirit soaring. This trail will get your blood pumping from the start, with a climb up some log steps, but it soon levels out to a gently rolling grade. It lies just outside of a forest demonstration area delineated by a green chain-link fence on your right. Look inside the fence to see the last remaining healthy hemlock trees in the area. Learn more
Limited to 7 hikers. All hikes include a nutritious bag lunch and transportation with our amazing hike leader Bev MacDowell.

Technology Free - What?!
A few of months ago, Shelli Stanback (Founder & Visionary) and I were discussing the option of having a technology-free stay at OM. While all of our guests can enjoy our cell phone free zones, we were exploring the idea of taking it one step further by presenting our overnight guests with the opportunity to completely unplug from technology by offering to safely and securely store their cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc while they are staying with us. While I understood the concept, I didn't understand why anyone would want to do that. Learn more

Volunteer of the Month - Martha Kiger
We're honored to have a volunteer like Martha Kiger. She's been with us since November 2011! Martha believes in the vision and value of OM Sanctuary. She has volunteered for a number of our events including the Community Closure Ceremony and the Nature and Natural Wellness Event, both in 2012. She also volunteered at our 2013 Solstice Celebration where she facilitated the creation of a group sand mandala and taught a workshop on creating nature mandalas.
Thank you, Martha!
