Intergenerational Water Communion
Reverend Emily Manvel Leite
Reverend Mary Ann Macklin
Reverend Scott McNeill
       All ages are invited to this intergenerational celebration of our community through drama, innovative music, and our water communion ritual.  Please bring water representing the essence of your summer's experience.  As part of our service, we will use the quiet ritual introduced last year to combine our offerings and form the generous reservoir of all of our stories and experiences that sustain this community through all life's seasons.  Our Children's Choir, directed by Jill Courtney, will perform.
Religious Education Open House this Sunday
This Sunday between services tour your classroom, meet your teachers, and see your friends. Parents can register children and youth in their classrooms.
What's Happening in Religious Education This Week?
    Children of all ages are invited to join us for our intergenerational service this week.  If needed, there is childcare available in room 108 for younger children.
    Between services, religious education classrooms will open for visitors--feel free to stop in and discover what our children do on Sundays!

Women's Alliance
   The Women's Alliance program on September 1 was "New Leaf New Life" with Mary Goetze and Marilyn Dallas. They gave a wonderful presentation on how the program works with the incarcerated young people starting a new life and the process of moving on.
   The Board Members of the Alliance are looking for the membership sheets. They went missing during the meeting. If you find them in your paperwork, please bring them back to the church office.
   Alliance members: be sure to pick up a copy of this year's program from Ann Watzel during coffee hour on Sunday.

Religious Education to Offer a Multi-Age Class this Fall
At 9:15 a.m., the RE program will be trying out a kindergarten-6th-grade class beginning on September 11. We are experimenting with this idea for several reasons:
1) parents have expressed interest in a multi-age class;
2) some children especially enjoy the freedom of a Spirit Play classroom (for info: http://www.uubloomington.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/FamilyGuideToSpiritPlay.pdf);
3) 3rd-6th attendance at 9:15 was sometimes low enough to be discouraging for volunteer teachers.
We encourage families who would like a multi-age experience for your children to consider the 9:15 service. If you prefer the traditional separation of grades, 11:15 will continue to offer that format. If you would like to know more or have questions or feedback, please contact Adrienne Summerlot or Reverend Emily Manvel Leite.
