"Resistance is Futile: 
The Annual Science Review Sermon"     
The Reverend Mary Ann Macklin
Hear ye. Hear ye.  It is time for Ye Olde Science Review Sermon as presented by Reverend Macklin.   This sermon, which includes a seventh inning stretch, will explore topics from 2015 science news, like human origins, the environment, physics, math, astronomy, health, mind and brain, and technology. Then we will ponder these things in our hearts.

   A memorial service for member Paul Lane will be held here in our Meeting Room on Saturday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. Paul died on November 21, 2015.  
The Search Committee Has Released the "Packet"  to ministerial candidates and to all of us, for viewing at http://uucbmsc.wix.com/packet
You may view it only from the link above--it is not searchable with Google or any other search engine.  You must use this direct web address to access the site.  The site includes different topics of interest and we hope it gives a feeling for the spirit of our congregation and our work together.  Click on the topics on the very top green bar to read about different areas.  Some topics have drop downs but the main information will be found by clicking on the topic name.  Many of the links  on the pages take you to our church website for more info.   We appreciate all you do to make UUCB so special.  --The Ministerial Search  Committee.
Do you have a connection with another country?
For our musical on February 21st, we will be having a procession of flags.  We are in need of flags and also adults willing to help children carry flags.  Please contact Adrienne Summerlot [email protected] if you can help.
 
Our Whole Lives (OWL) for Elementary Grades
Our Whole Lives (OWL), our sexuality curriculum for 1-2nd graders will begin on Thursday, January 14th
OWL for 4-5th graders will begin on Sunday, January 24th.
There is a meeting THIS SUNDAY, January 10th from 10:30-11am in the Library for students, parents and facilitators of 4th-5th grade OWL.
 
All You Need is Love begins this Sunday!  
Children and youth are encouraged to come this Sunday and see what it is all about.  Our artist in residence Kenneth Roberson will begin working with the kids to create our musical to be presented as part of our worship services on February 21. There is something for everyone, rapping, singing, dancing and creating art! 
"Alive Inside" Film Showing  on January 12th 
11-12:30 in Fellowship Hall
    You are invited to a showing of the stirring documentary "Alive Inside," which demonstrates music's ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. Come see the documentary and find out more.  Additional info available in the January 4 Prologue.
Kroger Requires Us to Re-enroll Our Kroger Plus Cards
Kroger customers who would like our congregation to benefit by receiving a percentage of the amount of their purchases will need to re-enroll their Kroger Plus cards in the community rewards program each year. We appreciate everyone who has already participated, and we hope you will re-enroll this month with our church as the recipient. Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS Indiana) is hosting an art exhibit called reVISION | Re-exploring Art, Expression & Perception. reVISION welcomes individuals who are blind (and their sighted peers) into a unique interactive art exhibit. This free event  will be held at the Indiana Interchurch Center Art Gallery located at 1100 West 42nd Street in Indianapolis.  The opening night is on Thursday, January 14th.
Building Civility:
Listening to Understand and Speaking to be Understood
Monday, Jan 18, 1:00-4:00 PM,
Bloomington City Hall Council Chambers, Morton Street
This workshop is open to all community members who are interested in having more effective conversations with others who hold different perspectives.  Facilitated by Lisa-Marie Napoli, Joelene Bergonzi, and Jordan Shifriss. More info can be found on the bulletin board at church.
