Special Purposes Town Hall Meeting on Fossil Fuel Divestment -- Saturday, September 26
The Special Purposes Fund Committee invites everyone to a discussion on divesting from fossil fuels at a Town Hall meeting on Saturday, September 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Library.
Traffic Patterns This Weekend
The easiest access to the church on Saturday will be via the Bypass, as there is a 5K Run on campus and the Lotus Festival closes several streets in the downtown area.
Getting Involved Fair this Sunday:  Changing the World
In our final installment of the Getting Involved series this fall, check out the many social justice task forces currently active in our congregation. Join us at coffee hour between services (10:15 - 11:15) to talk with folks from these groups working to Change the World. Groups tabling will include hunger, homelessness, housing, peace, prisoners, reproductive justice, international outreach, respect and equality for GLBT people, and caring for our earth.

This final installment of the autumn Getting Involved Fair invites you to consider how you are called to change the world.  What intention will we bring to our transformative work?  How do we want our community and our world to be different when we each have completed our journey?

Our sympathy and thoughts of healing are with Murray Davis and his family upon the death this week of his son Ian Davis. Ian was the grandson of the late Dorothy Davis, a long time member of our congregation. A memorial service for Ian will be held here on Sunday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m.
Welcome to New Office Assistant Deeva Khatiwada
On Thursday, September 24, we welcomed a new Office Assistant, Deeva Khatiwada, who will work with Monica Overman and Carol Marks as part of our administrative team. Deeva is originally from Munster, Indiana,  and is pursuing a degree in Law and Public Policy at IU. She looks forward to working with us. Deeva  will work 11 hours a week and assist on Sunday morning twice a month. 
Spirit Play for All Ages

6:00 p.m. pizza dinner--$1/slice, pre-ordering required;
6:30-7:30 p.m. story and exploration. Would you like to connect with your own inner wisdom?  Do you wonder what your child's experience is like in Spirit Play in the preschool or K-1 class?  Here's a chance to enjoy Spirit Play no matter what your age. Owning Your Religious Past 
Class Begins September 29
Owning Your Religious Past provides an opportunity to connect past religious experiences to present dreams and realities. Participants will explore the affective elements of these connections, rather than dogma, through both group sharing and private exploration. Open Cottage Meetings on Ministerial Search:
October 4 and October 11
The Ministerial Search Committee invites you to attend an open Cottage Meeting Sunday, October 4, or Sunday, October 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the Library. If you attend, please send your answers to uucbmsc@gmail.com.  
Here are the 4 questions the committee asks:
     1) What are the main things you would like our congregation to accomplish in the next 3 to 5 years?
     2) What are the qualities you would most like to see in our Associate Minister?
     3) What would you like our prospective Associate Minister to know about our congregation?
     4) Are there any special issues you would like the committee to consider?

Homelessness Task Force Announces Fundraiser for Interfaith Winter Shelter
The Interfaith Winter Homeless Shelter, supported by volunteers from our congregation and our Homelessness Task Force, has launched a second crowd-funding campaign to raise $35,000 for the upcoming 152-night winter season.
