"But say the word and let my servant be healed."(Luke 7:7)
The Gospel readings for Sundays in June, taken from Luke, focus on Jesus' ministry in and around Galilee--Jesus heals a Centurion's servant, He raises a widow's son, He forgives a sinful woman, and He heals a man with a demon. But as Jesus heads toward Jerusalem, he says to one near him, "Follow me." Find out Jesus' response to the one who answers, "I will follow you, Lord, but let me first..."
Follow Jesus Sundays in June.  See you in church!

Exciting new family Sunday school begins this Sunday, June 2
Bible Song

Christ Our Savior will start a new summer Sunday school program, Bible Song, for families this Sunday, June 2, at 9:15 a.m. All families are encouraged to attend as well as the Adult Sunday school group and anyone who wants to learn and support faith growth in our homes. The Bible Song mission is "to connect families with one another and with the Bible through a Scripture verse every night in every home," (Faith Inkubators).

According to Faith Inkubators, the creators of The Bible Song method, Bible Song provides parents with a tool to "speak faith" with their children. Each lesson will introduce a Scripture verse in several different ways like fun skits, Scripture songs, prayers, and art. Everyone will learn the FAITH5 tool that makes it easy to connect Sunday school to home with nightly faith practice.

This new approach to Sunday school was chosen by the Education stakeholders to help families participate in their children's faith education. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to help parents connect with their children through scripture, song, and prayer. See you Sunday!

I AM

John 8:58 "Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am." Jesus makes a bold statement that causes great offense with his hearers.   To understand the offense it is important to look in Exodus.

Moses has been set aside by God to lead the nation Israel out of slavery in Egypt. Moses asks God, "how should I respond when people question me about who sent him to lead the nation." God answers Moses: "God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" (Exodus 3:14)

The God who creates the heavens and the earth identifies himself as "I AM". God is before all things. He has power and might he will save his children.   Human language falls short of describing God. Human reason is incapable of understanding God. We are the created he is the creator.   He is. In Job 38 he asks Job where he was when he set the heavens in place and sets the boundaries of the seas. Isaiah 40 the prophet explains that God's ways are not our ways and we cannot understand his ways. God is. We can only trust, obey serve and praise him.

Many times during his public ministry Jesus identifies himself with "I am".   His detractors are offended because they see that he is claiming to be God. Jesus equates himself with the Most High God.   The first commandment God gave his children was "You shall have no other God's". The second commandment is "You shall not misuse my name." Jesus claims to be one with God. He uses the name of God to identify himself. He is God. He honors the name of the His Father God. He is one with the Father.

We are not offended that Jesus claims to be one with God.   He is God made known. We are not offended by Jesus taking the name of God. We understand that Jesus is God. He is true God and true man. There is one God. Jesus is God. God makes himself known through the person and work of His Son. He opens our eyes which are blinded by sin by the power of His Spirit. What offends many, we accept as great truth. Jesus is God. The Father is God and the Spirit is God. This is the mystery of the Trinity which we accept by faith.

Jesus identifies himself as "I Am". Jesus is God. He is our Lord and King. He declares us righteous. We are His redeemed children. "God so loved the world that he sent his Son..." Alleluia Jesus is Lord.

Craft Interest Group to meet on new day in June--Friday, June 14
The Craft Interest Group is trying something new!  Not a new craft project, but a new day and time for June. We will meet on Friday night June 14th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the church.  Summer is a busy time and many people cannot attend on Saturdays because of travel and activities.  So, join us Friday night June 14th and bring a project to work on.

In May, crafters worked on scrapbooks, a crocheted blanket, and a counted cross stitch baby quilt. You are welcome to bring a snack to share, but that is not required.  We have fun, fellowship and snacks!  If you need help with a project we are happy to offer our talents and advice. Questions? Call Cindy Karrow C-913-269-19356 or H-837-3323.

Attend Pie Auction & Dinner
June 22 to support Senior Center Lunches and Meals on Wheels
The seniors in our community need our help to ensure that senior nutrition services are affordable and can continue as they have for many years.  MidAmerica Nutrition in Ottawa, KS brings meals to seniors, who gather for lunch at the Senior Center and to those who are home bound, for a donation of a few dollars per meal. Government funds account for 40% of the overall support, while donations and grants make up the rest.  Because of government cutbacks and increased costs, however, communities are being asked to help raise funds needed to support the program.

Christ Our Savior has formed a committee to help raise those funds needed to support the Louisburg Senior Center lunch program and Meals on Wheels and to help increase senior participation and volunteers for meal delivery. This Pie Auction and Dinner is our first attempt to spread community awareness and raise funds. Please join us by giving your support.

This is an important community outreach event for Christ Our Savior and we encourage you to get a group of friends together and plan an evening out in Louisburg to enjoy great barbecue and a fun pie auction with the some of the best home baked pies around. We are also accepting monetary donations as well as commitments to provide pies for the auction. Thrivent will be matching some of the funds raised, so we ask that checks be made payable to Thrivent.

Tickets are $20 per person for a great meal and entertaining pie auction and will be available for purchase after Sunday services or contact Beth Ramsey at (316)727-1249.
