Fall Product Program Kicks-off Sept. 12!
Be Brilliant, Shine On! through participation in our Fall Products Program by selling delicious nuts/candies and magazines to fund your troop activities. Online order-taking begins September 12 and all registered Girl Scouts can participate online by clicking the special link in a launch e-mail that will be sent on September 12. Girls can also participate by clicking on the rotating banner, available at 12:01 a.m. on September 12, on our website homepage at www.girlscoutsp2p.org. In-person order taking begins September 22 - talk to your troop leader to receive your sale materials.

Kennadee McEachirn, Girl Scout Junior, has been the council Top Seller for four consecutive years, and encourages all girls to participate.
"The fall products are easy to sell and everybody loves nuts and candies. When the word got around that I was selling the products that they already loved to add to their Thanksgiving holidays and their Christmas gifts, it made selling even easier.

I love being a Girl Scout, selling the fall products and meeting new people. While selling my nuts, candies and other fall products, it opens up the doors for my Girl Scout cookie sales.

Because of my hard work in selling fall products last year, I was able to earn an awesome trip to Great Wolf Lodge. My friends and I were able to have lots of summer time fun. Working hard pays off. I am pumped up and ready for this year's fall product sales that will start soon!"

Back-to-Troop - Feel the Excitement; Support the Mission
Remember when back-to-school meant new crayons and new notebooks? Remember how excited you were to begin a new year in school with your new supplies?

Back-to-school time is back-to-troop time, too. Girl Scout leaders across GSCP2P are gearing up for a new Girl Scout year packed with all kinds of opportunities for girls. There is so much energy in the anticipation of laughs and learning moments to come.

Did you know troop leaders get new materials from the council every year for back-to-troop time? Troop leaders are currently receiving their resource notebooks and planning calendars with answers to many questions they will have throughout the year.
  • Volunteer Essentials notebook provides answers about Troop Finances, Cookies, Travel, Safety and many other topics that a troop leader might have questions about. This resource is updated every year to provide the best support possible for our volunteers.
  • Girl Scout Planning Calendar offers troop leaders a tool to help plan the year with their girls.
We need your help to support the cost of new back-to-troop supplies for our leaders. A donation of $25 will cover the cost of new materials for a troop for a year. Please consider supporting P2P in this service to volunteer leaders with an online donation. Thank you so much for your support at this exciting time in our Girl Scout year.

Troop Spotlight
Girl Scout Cadette Troops 40232 and 40875 recently helped the Town of Lewisville celebrate by operating a face painting booth at the town's 25th anniversary event. Other local troops, including Troops 01742, 40083 and 41699, also operated activity booths in the children's area, demonstrating how much Girl Scouts give back to their communities. The face painters watched training videos to learn new techniques and patterns such as Batman, Spiderman, butterflies, leopards and monsters, and the girls hope to continue putting their new skills to work.

Troop 30375 focuses on community service
with Malinda Silver of Burnsville as their leader. "My favorite part of being a troop leader is seeing these girls overcome fears and grow to be such independent young ladies." Although the Girl Scouts are known often for camping and cookies, volunteering within the community is one of the biggest aspects of Girl Scouts. Malinda's troop has participated in shoe box care packages, feeding the homeless, planting flowers for local charities, river clean ups and many other service projects throughout the years.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Girl Scouting - and Brandy Sawyer, Mt. Airy, serves as leader to 19 girls in Troop 02746. "The girls have taught me so much! Together we have grown in different ways! I look at each girl as family and their families as my family! Not only do we depend on each other in Girl Scouts, but we can also depend on each other outside of the troop as well," Brandy said. "I honestly do not know life before becoming a Girl Scout leader! I succeed by the girls' success in my troop," she said. "They make me incredibly proud!"
Girl Scout Troop 10454 of Connelly Springs remain actively involved in their community as teen Girl Scouts. They have planted a garden at the Agape Retirement Apartments and sang Christmas carols at the Agape Retirement Center. They have also sewed over 50 dog beds and braided over 50 dog leashes for Burke County Friends for Animals. "Our troop has done so much over the years, including sleepovers, shopping days and movie nights," Laurie Baker, troop leader, said. "These girls are all so different in their personalities, but are all like sisters. I couldn't be any prouder of them."
