Pump Up your Party with a Playlist
Music enhances entertaining. With the convenience of Pandora & Spotify, it can be easy to set the iPod on a channel and let it go for the night. But a gracious dinner party host knows a good playlist is just another element of the evening for your guests to enjoy.

Here are some tips on creating the perfect playlist for your next dinner party:

Know your Guests
Think about who will be sitting around your table. The choices you make for your close friends will likely be different than if Grandma is there. It's fine to introduce your guests to your music, but remember, it's not all about you. Put your own personal preferences aside and go with some crowd favorites.

Sound Check
Experiment with the volume of the music before your guests arrive so you know what a comfortable level is. You want to be able to hear the music but still be able to carry on conversation.

Good Timing
A good rule of thumb is to make your playlist about four hours. Start with something low-key as people arrive and gradually build up the energy. Who knows? Your guests may want to indulge in a dance party after dessert. Wind things down at the end of the night with mellow and moody tunes.
Table & Napkin Art
The food is just part of the story you tell at a dinner party. The decor and setting are important, too.
