Pink Wine & Cool Reds: Wine Entertaining Tips&
Rosť season (aka summer) is short in Chicago, so we always make the most of it by drinking lots of the pink stuff. In fact, our staff favorite right now is Bieler Pere et Fils Rosť from Provence, France. It's a rich, deeply colored, medium-body wine with notes of berries and  cherries. And at just $11.95/bottle it's a warm weather gem! 


We love it so much, we've added it to our Summer Sipper Wine Package for private parties. This option includes four refreshing, crisp wines, as well as house beers. When hosting a party in your home, your wine choices will likely be as important as the menu.

Here are five tips for entertaining with wine:
  1. Wine Toast Chill your Reds: Most red wines are best served between 60-65 degrees, so chill your reds for a little while before your guests arrive. A wine served cool will warm up in the glass, so a wine served warm will only get warmer.
  2. Use Leftover Wine: Use that quarter of bottle left at the end of the party to make homemade vinegar. If that sounds like too much work, be sure to check out our guide on selecting a quality vinegar. It will make a big difference in your food!
  3. Dress up Wine by Making Sangria: Save the expensive stuff for the special occasions since the subtleties of nicer wine will be lost in this cocktail. Be sure to let the Sangria sit overnight to give the flavors time to meld. Try our Sangria and Strawberry Sangria recipes at your next event. 
  4. Check the Alcohol Content of Wine: Buy wines that are below 12 percent if you can. Some guests won't be able to handle wines with higher alcohol contents in the 15-16% range.  
  5. Cork Art: Save your wine corks and show them off in this fun, decorative display box that is sure to be the talk of your next party. Hang it on the wall or sit it on a shelf. These products were so popular we're currently sold out, but we've got more on the way!
