Wine Entertaining Tips
Do you and your friends love wine? Plan a party around your favorite beverage with our top five wine entertaining tips:

Begin with Bubbly:

You can't go wrong if you start pop the evening off with some sparkling wine. It makes people feel special and doesn't have to be expensive.

Warm your Whites & Chill your Reds:
In this country, we tend to serve white wines too cold and red wines too hot. But this can kill a wine's subtle aromatics and fruit intensity. So, take your white wines out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before you want to serve them and chill your red wines for about 20 minutes before you want to serve them.

Introduce your Guests to Wine they May Not Be Familiar With:

Leave the Chardonnay and Merlot behind and be adventurous with your offerings. Your guests will thank you for taking a chance on something different.

Learn the Finer Points of Wine Service:

Wine Water Bottle

Repurpose for a Party

We especially love this entertaining tip from our favorite nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner: make an effort to recycle a common object and bring it back to life for a party. For example, repurpose wine bottles to serve chilled water at the dinner table.

Wine bottles can also be repurposed as vases and candle holders. Get more ideas (including lots of things to do with wine corks) from our Wine Lovers board on Pinterest.

Fundraising Five-Peat

For the fifth year in a row, The Chopping Block welcomes the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America for their annual fundraising event. We love when food brings people together for a greater cause in our kitchens! This organization works to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to return to The Chopping Block. The venue is perfect for a fundraising event and the staff and chefs are so accommodating and easy to work with. They play great hosts as they teach our guests new and interesting recipes allowing our staff to mingle with guests and donors. Each year we have added new ideas and elements to the space so the flexibility to recreate the event makes it fun for returning guests. We come back year after year because our guests rave about the entire evening, and we are proud to host a top notch event while raising funds for our foundation at such a premiere establishment as The Chopping Block." ~Jill Kruggel, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America

"We were really excited to  enjoy a nice summer night outside with great food, beverages and company.  I had heard your outdoor kitchen was fantastic and it was nothing but that. Your chefs were informative at taking us through the prep of our grilling menu and answering all the questions we had. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious, along with a bit sinful (S'More Sundaes, please!). This summer kitchen experience left us wanting to come back again soon!

Got Food Allergies? We'll Work with You
If you've got a group with varying tastes and dietary restrictions, it can often be hard to please everyone. But The Chopping Block's Events Team works to make sure every member of your group is satisfied with their meal and experience.

Access Destination Services recently hosted such an event and found the planning process smooth.

Guests are greeted with appetizers at the Access Destination Services event.
"From the beginning, the staff was incredibly easy to work with. Even when dealing with multiple food allergies in the group, I was able to work with them to concoct the perfect menu. The hors d'oeuvres were displayed beautifully and were ready for guests to enjoy as they entered the venue. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and provided the guests with kitchen tips and facts that were very informative. The guests had a great time making their entrées and the flow of the kitchen set up made it seamless for our large group.  The guests were able to interact and work together to create a spectacular meal while having a great time. My client was very pleased with how the night went and everyone left very happy (and full)!"
~Alex Toomoka, Access Destination Services
