Call to Unwind Development Plans along the Jordan River in West Valley City

In a written announcement on March 20, 2014, former Jordan River Commission Chair and West Valley City Councilman Corey Rushton, called upon his fellow members of the City Council  to pause and reconsider the future of a 15-acre parcel of land near the Jordan River on 3300 South.

Councilman Rushton asked the City to decline any extensions to the current development proposal and explore avenues to unwind current plans for the property.  He also recommended that the City bring together Jordan River stakeholders to evaluate opportunities for Jordan River corridor preservation.
New Pocket Field Guides!

The JRC has produced two new pocket field guides to help Jordan River Parkway corridor visitors identify common native and non-native plant and animal species.

Print off a copy of your own mini field guide and impress your friends with your Jordan River ecology knowledge!

Do you have a project that needs funding?

The Jordan River Commission website lists all kinds of grant opportunities to help fund your projects!

A list of federal, state, local and private grant and other funding opportunities is updated regularly and can be found on the JRC website.  The JRC events calendar lists grant cycles that are currently open and accepting proposals.

In addition, the JRC has a small grants program available to its member governments and community partners.  The program offers small matching grants, up to $2,500, for projects that help implement the goals of the Blueprint Jordan River and the purposes of the Jordan River Commission.  Grant proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and evaluated by the Governing Board.

About the Jordan River Commission

The Jordan River Commission was created by an interlocal cooperation agreement in August 2010. The Commission was created to implement the concepts and projects outlined in the Blueprint Jordan River, to serve as a technical resource to local communities, and to provide a forum for regional coordination of planning, restoration, and responsible development along the river corridor.
