Greetings!

As the summer of 2015 winds down, Drumm Farm is buzzing with activity. This month foundations were poured for two new houses, the Drumm Farm Market building was completed, and kids participated in our first annual Brainfit Camp here on the campus.

By early 2016, two new families will be selected to turn the new houses into homes for six to eight children. Later this fall, the Market will be open some weekday evenings (and throughout the year) selling eggs, canned items, pork, lamb, breads and much more. And Brainfit is a fun and exciting part of Drumm's Educational Support Program aimed at improving the educational success of kids.

All this activity illustrates our vision: helping children by providing programs and services that support family environments, emotional and physical well-being, educational opportunities, and personal growth.

We invite you to follow us on Facebook and share in the joy of Drumm Farm; thank you for your support and encouragement.

Best regards,

The Education Support Program is super excited to have been a part of the first Brainfit Summer Enrichment Day Camp. Brainfit integrates all threads of Drumm Farm interweaving education support, counseling and farming programs to enhance science and character building classes and transitions.

Students participated in classes such as Insects and Bugs on the Farm, Rocks and Minerals, Missouri Mammals, Kids in the Kitchen, and Drumm Designer Art Classes.

Curriculum was developed through partnerships with the 4-H and the University of Missouri Extension Center and Missouri Department of Conservation in collaboration with Education Support from Drumm.

Each camp day began and ended with Teambuilding activities to promote community building among students and staff. All Drumm Farm Staff was featured to speak about their role at Drumm Farm for daily Friends of Drumm talks.

Our goal was to have Brainfit be an anchor memory for all students participating in camp, and it was a great success. Looking forward to next year!

This summer I got to go Crossway Sports camp.  It was fun.  I got to learn how to play ballyball (volleyball), Basketball, Football and Soccer.  It was really cool because the guy that taught me about soccer was a real player from the comets.

I just came back from 10 days of Boy Scout's camp at Bartle.  It was my and Kody's first year.  I had a great time and earned all 7 of my merit badges.  There were lots of copperheads and it was hot but other than that I had a great time.  It was also fun seeing my brother Danny get his Foxman.  I am excited to return so that I can be part of the Mic-0-Say tribe.

This summer I went to Camp Wood YMCA for two weeks. It was fun because we got to play gaga ball. We also got to play other sports like soccer, basketball, rugby, football and more. At the end of camp we had a big dance party and we got our faces painted. It was my first time at summer camp and I can't wait until next year!

In July I got to go to Camp Wood. At Camp Wood I was trained to be a CIT (Counselor in Training) which is basically learning how to deal with different types of children ,and also how to deal with different situations that a camper might bring up or things they might say and do. I also got to live in a cabin with younger campers and had to learn the schedule they lived by to get them to every activity! Most of all, I learned how to treat my teammates with respect and other staff around me as equals to build a better camp for campers.

7th Annual Drumm Run

The 7th Annual Drumm Run was held on July 18 at Unity Village. The rain may have kept some runners away but it didn't slow those who attended down. In fact, our very own Djemarley Occelin won the 5K for the second year in a row! Congratulations Djemarley and thank you to all the runners and volunteers along with this year's sponsors: Genesys Systems Integrator, Quesada World Collection, Sloan Insurance Agency, Millergroup, Control Printing Group, CBIZ, HX Delivery, Airgas and B&D Automotive of Florida!
