After living on the streets of Quito, Ecuador, from the time he was orphaned at the age of 11, Juan Miguel was a scruffy-looking youngster when he arrived at Youth World Ministries' Casa Gabriel at the age of 14.  His only friend, a golden retriever mix puppy he had somehow kept with him while living on the streets, accompanied him.  Having no education past primary school, he had read more...

Roberto Vivanco, along with his wife Cameron and son Graham, are SAMS missionaries serving in Quito Ecuador; they are seconded to a ministry there called Youth World.   Among many ministries, Roberto runs a music recording studio called Mesias. The Mesias Studio has a different approach to recording. Usually when a musician wants to record music they pay for the studio time, but the artists that come to Mesias record for free. Mesias then either makes their music available for personal encouragement and/or sells their music with any profit going toward outreach.

The Hope Dealers of Honduras

Read about former SAMS missionary Betsy Hake and how she is reaching out to prostitutes in Honduras.  This article, The Hope Dealers of Honduras, was featured in the September 2013 issue of Christianity Today and is an inspiring account of how one woman is reaching out with the hope of Jesus.
Praise Reports

Join SAMS missionary in Honduras, Jeannie Loving, as she  praises God for her faithful supporters.

Give thanks with SAMS missionaries Chuck and Beth Bradshaw for their safe arrival and welcome in Mityana, Uganda. They also give thanks for good health and for faithful prayer and support partners.

Prayer Requests

Pray for that the Lord would raise up the short-term team  members He wants to send with SAMS missionaries Mike and Betty Kaszer to minister with SAMS missionaries Kim and Mike Miller in Honduras beginning May 28, 2014.

Join in prayer with Roberto and Cameron Vivanco while they are in the U.S. through December 3, 2013 for their home ministry assignment. Pray they would have safe travels and fruitful church visits for raising up partners. Also, please pray for comfort and peace for Cameron's mother Margaret while they travel.

Brian and Mary Jane Dennison, SAMS missionaries in Uganda, ask for prayers for their family as they travel on very dangerous roads in Uganda. Especially lift up daughter Charlotte who has a long commute every day to school.

Lift up the prayer concerns of SAMS missionaries Grant  and Wendy LeMarquand in Gambela, Ethiopia. They ask prayers for a young girl Sarah, daughter of one of our priests who was shot in the leg in a cattle raid months ago. She has now had corrective surgery to straighten her bent femur. Pray for her recovery and give thanks for the Canadian Anglican surgeon who did the operation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Also pray for the plans to establish a small theological college in Gambella to serve the growing needs of the churches in that region.

Guy and Summer Benton, missionaries in Cambodia, ask for time sensitive prayers for their house which has been flooded due to heavy rains and storms. Pray that the landlord is able to raise the house a couple of feet this week and that the Lord would give them the grace to live amongst all their furniture that has been moved to an upper level. Despite this setback Guy and Summer are praising God for the community He has brought them there that is helping them through all this!

Join with Joe and Tina Rhodes serving in Honduras as  they ask for wisdom, discernment, provision, a safe trip to NYC to take their daughter Abney to school, and also for health and protection for the students, teachers, and staff at St. Mary's Episcopal School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

SAMS missionaries Juan and Maria Marentes, serving in Belize, ask your prayers for Maria Isabel who arrived in Jacksonville, Florida to have a very much needed health check-up. Pray for Juan as he holds down the fort in Belize, addressing many challenges in ministry and writing the first draft of the last chapter of his Doctor of Ministry Dissertation.

Please pray for the barrio of Flor del Campo in Honduras where SAMS missionary Amanda Scott is serving. Pray that the Lord will intervene in the lives of the people there.

Lift up Russ and Heidi Smith as they leave their ministry in Chile on Nov. 18th, to begin their home ministry assignment, which will include a visit to Calgary on November 20th where they will be meeting/speaking with prospective Canadian supporters who are interested in the work. Pray for their youngest daughter Jocelyn as she stays with family here in the US while they travel. Please pray for their evening outreach services scheduled for the 13th of October and the 10th of November. Also pray for the work they are doing with "at-risk" children at the Yachal Center and also the Women's Encounter in the Spirit conference on October 19th.

Chuck and Beth Bradshaw serving in Uganda ask for prayers for Lord to keep them healthy and for the ability to retain the Luganda (language) instruction that they are receiving. Also pray for the Lord's guidance and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be effective partners in the mission of this Diocese.

Thank you for praying for SAMS and your missionaries!
