Children at Play, God at Work

In a small Brazilian fishing community children walk to a nearby home ministry to receive a meal, make crafts, and listen to the Gospel being shared. On this particular Saturday SAMS Missionary Debby McKeon is sharing a story of faith and healing from Luke 8. As the children watch the story-drama unfold through the movements of simple stick figures, it sets the stage to discuss issues that weigh heavy on their little hearts. Children share about the prolonged illness of a family member, child prostitution, and drug and alcohol addictions of friends and family. SAMS missionaries Ron and Debby McKeon have been serving part time in Brazil for the past six years. They now feel God's call to serve full time and are in the process of raising up senders to join them in their ministry. These senders will enable Debby to expand the equipping of ministers to children and Ron to teach students in the seminary and raise up missionaries to go to under-reached parts of Brazil.

Being able to serve the Lord in the mission field is a real privilege. We know that without senders it would not be possible. Thank you so much for joining us in this work that we have been called to do.

Thanksgivings:

Along with Bishop Grant and Wendy LeMarquand give thanks for a successful distribution of food for people living in the Tiergol region of western Ethiopia and also for Wendy receiving a business visa. They now ask for prayer for her to get a work permit in Ethiopia so she can minister as a physician.

Rejoice along with SAMS missionary candidate Eldon Stoffel who was informed he had to vacate the room he was renting because the landlord was selling the house. Within hours after sending an email to his Barnabas group and Bible study group one of the members offered him a room in their house to move into at no charge and a place to leave his belongings for the two years he will be in Africa.

Join Brian and Mary Jane Dennison in praising the Lord for the 100th Anniversary of the Bishop Tucker Theological College, Mukono, Uganda

Join Juan and Maria Marentes in giving thanks for his healing. Please pray for them both as they resume their pastoral duties in Belize.

Join Shaw and Julie Mudge, in praising God for expanding ministry opportunities in online education, both with regards to increase in students and staffing, as well as bringing faculty up to speed for course development in Tanzania and Belize.

Prayers:

SAMS associate missionaries Mike and Betty Kaszer leading a short-term mission in Honduras ask for your prayers that their short-term medical team stays healthy and safe through their return on June 8. Mike and Betty also ask prayers for Mike who will be the graduation speaker at Holy Trinity School in La Ceiba where they taught.

Please pray for SAMS missionaries John and Susan Park as they transition back to life in the US. Pray for Susan as she continues her missionary service as the Coordinator for Teams for the Diocese of Peru, handling this key responsibility from the US, and for John as he explores new ministries.

Brian and Mary Jane Dennison ask prayers for God's protection as they begin (after living in Uganda 5 years) driving on the roads. Please pray for provision to purchase their own vehicle. Also they ask a special prayer for their 14-year-old friend Timothy Mugisha, who has advanced cancer. Pray for the Lord's healing as chemo has been stopped, and for God's presence with him and his family.

Pray for Kim and Mike Miller as they continue to provide a loving family to orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children in Honduras through the ministry of The Hope of Jesus Children's Home. Pray specifically for the professional development of their Honduran leadership team and for the financial resources necessary to care for the children.

Bishop Frank and Shawnee Lyons ask for the Lord's help in the sale of their house in Cochabamba, Bolivia and that it may it be a house of blessing to the perfect family.

Lift up SAMS missionaries Eduardo and Hilda Monzon in the Diocese of Costa Rica. Pray that the Lord would raise up supporters for their effectual ministry in promoting and training clergy and lay leaders throughout the diocese.

Join with Grant and Wendy LeMarquand in prayer for the planning of a small theological college at the Gambella Anglican Centre in western Ethiopia. Pray for some new buildings, a wall around the compound, teachers and students.

Please thank God for his grace and mercy as SAMS missionary Shirley Morris walks through the path of acute leukemia. Pray for scheduled treatments to be effective and with a minimum of side effects. Pray that she is able to see her friends the week of June 10 while in Pittsburgh.
