The Resurgence of Black Walnut

There has been a resurgence in the use of darker woods, such as Black Walnut, by designers and woodworkers in the past few years. It is not hard to see why this is happening since it is an ideal wood to use. Not only is it gorgeous, a beautiful chocolate color with a beautiful grain pattern, but it also has excellent working properties. Black walnut is strong, stiff and is easy to work with both hand and machine tools. The only downside to the resurgence in Black Walnut according to the owners, Alan and Joyce, is finding adequate supply. Luckily, we have been getting some outstanding logs into the yard that should make some incredible boards.
