Renovations Begin December 21!
Syllabus updates for 2016
If you are preparing a syllabus for spring classes, please include up-to-date language about Helmke Library and the Writing Center:
- Visit the Library Services Center for research assistance, laptops and iPads checkout, and help accessing library materials. Librarians are available in-person and via the online Ask-A-Librarian service. Learn how to request books and access our online resources 24/7 at library.ipfw.edu.
Rethink Research Assignments during the Refresh
Although physical resources will still be available during the Library's Refresh, the library's stacks will be closed to the public. We recommend adjusting your assignments to help students find high-quality resources without requiring print sources. Online journal articles, reference books, and e-books, are excellent options for research! Consult with your librarian about designing research assignments for the spring semester. Librarians are experts in information literacy and library resources; we can even teach your students in person or online about
- How to evaluate online resources
- The difference between scholarly and popular resources
- Where to look for resources appropriate to the class/topic
- How to access resources during the Library Refresh
- Information ethics, plagiarism, and citation
Out with the old, in with the new! Join us for mischief, mild mayhem, and major fun at the library's deconstruction party. Join us December 10 from 12-2 for games, refreshments, a selfie station, surprise guests, and a chance to make your mark on the library - literally! See you there!
