Southwest LRT Update

Over 80% of local funding for Southwest LRT
in place.

The December 2015 newsletter from the Project Office also included a series of new images created by the design and engineering staff showing how the proposed new LRT line and stations would be integrated into the surrounding landscape. Plans for the Kenilworth landscape are also included in the newsletter (scroll to page 7).

Press release from Hennepin County Sheriff's Office

Body recovered from Lake of the Isles

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has recovered the body of an adult male from the channel between Lake of the Isles and Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. Around 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2016, the Sheriff's Office and the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to the scene on reports of jacket found frozen to the ice. The victim was located underneath the surface nearby. Deputies recovered his body.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victim and release the official cause of death.

Organics Recycling

Sign up by February 1st to get your cart this spring!

All Solid Waste & Recycling customers who sign up to participate in the organics recycling program by February 1st will receive their organics carts beginning in April 2016.

Home Tour Wants Your Home

The 2016 Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour
is looking for homes to feature for the tour in
late April.

The tour is a celebration of city living that encourages homeowners to improve existing homes, and to complement the neighborhood vibe if they build new.

Nominations/applications are due January 15. It's the Tour's 29th year; it will be held April 30 and May 1.
