Road Closure: Cedar Lake Parkway at Kenilworth

Kenilworth railroad tracks across Cedar Lake Parkway will
be replaced beginning Monday, November 2nd.

The road will be closed for approximately one week. The goal is to have it completed and repaved by the end of day on Monday, November 9th, but that is weather dependent.

Impacts
Complete closure of Cedar Lake Parkway at the Kenilworth rail/trail crossing between Burnham Road and Xerxes Avenue. (Note: The repaving project on Cedar Lake Parkway near Brownie Lake is scheduled to be completed by October 28.)

Signed detours using France Avenue, Lake Street and Dean Parkway.

The Kenilworth Trail will be closed for the sewer pipe installation and paving portions of the project. Trail users will be directed to Xerxes Avenue South via 28th Street West during the trail closure.

A temporary sidewalk on the south side of the Cedar Lake Parkway crossing will provide pedestrian access across the project area.

For more information, go to the project webpage.

Southwest LRT Field Work

In late October through November, crews will be conducting field work to continue design advancement of the proposed Southwest LRT project.

The testing will require drilling soil borings and removing some of the understory brush near the Kenilworth Channel and Cedar Lake Parkway. The work will begin in October with crews marking utilities, followed by a few weeks of soil borings. The project office will also be doing survey work in three general locations, near the Kenilworth Channel, Midtown Greenway and Burnham Road.

This work will be conducted on public property owned by Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority and private property where access has been granted by the owner.

Crews will be working on weekdays from about 8:00 am to about 6:00 pm.
Most of the work is being done off of the trail but equipment may partially block the trail for a short period. While crews are in the corridor there will be some noise from equipment to make the borings.
