West Lake Multimodal Transportation Study: Community Workshop #2
The City of Minneapolis is leading an area-wide multimodal transportation study for the West Lake LRT Station area.
This will be the second of three community workshops conducted as part of the study. You are invited to help review proposed changes to the area around the planned West Lake LRT station. Today - Wednesday, October 75:00-7:00 p.m. (open house format) Jones-Harrison Residence 3700 Cedar Lake Ave MapThere will be information about the project as well as opportunities to provide feedback on the study results thus far. The goal of the study is to provide recommendations that can be implemented as part of the construction of the Southwest LRT or other future investments in the area. Cedar Lake Parkway Resurfacing
A section of Cedar Lake Parkway will be closed for resurfacing. Construction will begin on October 19 and is expected to be completed by October 28. The road closure extends south from I-394 just past the bridge over the channel connecting Cedar and Brownie Lake. Sidewalks and trails will remain open on the west side of the parkway. Check the project website for updates.

Park Board News
Closing the GapPark Board staff hosted more than 30 public meetings throughout Minneapolis this summer to discuss how insufficient funding has impacted its highly-used, aging network of neighborhood parks. On September 29, the Park Board hosted "Closing the Gap: Insider Insights for Park Funding" which featured four distinguished park and recreation advocates from large urban park agencies across the country in a 90-minute panel discussion on creative park funding strategies, followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Dakota name added to Lake Calhoun entrance signs Park Board staff installed new placards at each of Lake Calhoun's entrance signs bearing the Dakota name Bde Maka Ska.
The signs were updated in accordance with a September 2nd Park Board action taken after a discussion on a report about Lake Calhoun's name.

Pollinator Protection
The Minneapolis City Council passed a resolution which commits the City to increasing bee-friendly plants in the city and decreasing pesticide use. The City of Minneapolis urges all Minneapolis property owners, residents, businesses, institutions and neighborhoods to become more pollinator friendly by adopting practices including:
- Committing to not use pesticides, including insecticides that stay in the plant, on their properties.
- Avoiding planting flowering plants that are treated with insecticides that stay in the plant.
- Discontinuing the sale of pesticides and plants that are treated with insecticides that stay in the plant.
- Planting more pollinator forage on their property and using organic or chemical-free lawn and landscaping practices.
