Southwest LRT

Biking and Southwest LRT Survey
 

The purpose of the survey is to obtain information from cyclists and non-cyclists who travel within the Southwest LRT corridor regarding their interest in biking to the proposed Southwest LRT stations.  

Share your thoughts by taking a brief bike facilities survey
at www.swlrtcommunityworks.org/bikesurvey. Deadline is March 13.   

   

 

The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is set to vote on a resolution for Southwest LRT.

The Park Board Commissioners will be asked to support a light rail transit bridge over the channel at their meeting on:

$25 Trees!
 
Protect our tree canopy by planting a tree!  

Trees are available for Minneapolis property owners for only $25! Choose from several varieties and sizes of trees, including fruit trees.

Details:
  • Ordering begins on March 9 for Wards 3, 4, 5 & 6 at 8:00 am and March 23 for the entire city at 8:00 am.
  • First-come, first-served. Order early for best selection. 
  • Limit one tree per property, maximum three properties.
  • Trees cost $25 each and must be planted on private property in the city (trees may not be planted on the boulevard).
  • Trees need to be picked up May 16-19.

Lakes Calhoun and Harriet Comprehensive Plan

The Park Board will be forming a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to update the Comprehensive Plan for Lakes Calhoun and Harriet.

CIDNA will appoint one person to represent our
neighborhood on the committee. Volunteer needed!
The CAC will meet 10 times over a nine month period.
Details will be available in mid-March 2015. Contact Monica Smith at 612-821-0131 or info@cidna.org if you are interested
in being considered to represent Cedar-Isles-Dean on
the CAC.

 

 

Cedar Lake South Beach

The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is undertaking a process for planning and redesign of Cedar Lake South Beach.

 
A landscape architecture consultant will lead a design and community engagement process and prepare documents, through design development for South Beach.

Mark you calendars for the following community engagement meetings at Jones-Harrison Residence:

Free Safety Check for Seniors - Act Now  

The HOME Program of Senior Community Services is offering a no-cost Home Assessment which will evaluate the safety of the homes of senior citizens as part of a grant through the state of Minnesota. They will check out your need for handrails, grab-bars, smoke detectors, lighting, and other safety components. Ages 60+  are eligible for this limited time offer. No sales. Raingarden Workshops

Metro Blooms is offering raingarden workshops.

The three-hour workshop gives participants an overview of native pollinator plants and raingardens, including design, installation, and maintenance. In the second half of the workshop, participants receive recommendations for their property with one-on-one assistance from Metro Blooms Landscape Designers and Hennepin County Master Gardeners.
