Fireworks! The Pearson's Crew Ski Loppet! These are two of the new additions to the annual City of Lakes Loppet Ski Festival, Friday, January 30 - Sunday, February 1. The Loppet Weekend offers a combination of participant and spectator activities and races for people of all ages and ability levels. The event returns again to Loppet Village on the west side of Lake Calhoun.

For many, the Luminary Loppet is the highlight where people of all ages and experience levels ski, snowshoe or walk around Lake of the Isles among thousands of candle-lit ice luminaries. Over the past few years the event has exploded in both scope and attendance. To ensure a high-quality experience for (and to be fair to) paid participants, event organizers will again be strict about registration this year. The tour is a celebration of city living that encourages homeowners to improve existing homes, and to complement the neighborhood vibe if they build new. Nominations/applications are due January 16. It's the Tour's 28th year; it will be held April 25 and 26, 2015.
