Environmental crews are conducting soil and ground water sampling in Minneapolis.
Starting November 20, crews will be working on Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority property from the 21st Street station area to West Lake Street station area. Work could last until early December, depending on weather. They will be working weekdays and will not be working during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Crews will use one of two methods to complete this work. They will either be making 2 to 4 inch wide borings using a truck-mounted drill rig or will be digging test trenches. Test trenches are typically 3 to 4 feet wide, up to 15 feet deep and can be 20 to 50 feet long. If a trench is required, the trench will be backfilled the same day.
Trucks or backhoes may be temporarily parked on part of the trail. If equipment is obstructing a portion of the trail, space will be maintained to allow trail users to get through and work zones will be marked for everyone's safety.

Additional peizometer (measures water levels) installation
will be occurring periodically over the next few months, in
the Kenilworth Corridor and neighboring areas.
The work will be done on public property, primarily in CIDNA and some work in Kenwood. The piezometers will be placed in locations that are out of the way from general activities. There will be some minor noise with piezometers installation. The work is in response to recommendations made by the consultant in the Water Resource Evaluation. Please direct questions about the fieldwork to Sophia Ginis, Community Outreach Coordinator at 612-373-3895 or sophia.ginis@metrotransit.org.

Metro Transit Service Improvement Plan
The Draft 2015-2030 Service Improvement Plan (SIP) is available for public comment and review.
The SIP is a long-range plan to expand the local and express bus network. The plan addresses the types of improvements Metro Transit would like to make, how to prioritize these improvements, and the resources needed to implement these improvements. The plan was developed in a process that included the regional vision, transit planning principles and public input. The draft plan is available online on at metrotransit.org/sip. Printed draft plans are also available at county libraries within Metro Transit's service area, at Metro Transit Service Centers in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, and upon request. Public comments on the draft plan are being accepted through November 30th and can be submitted online at sip@metrotransit.org, or by leaving a message via phone at 651-602-1500. Following the public comment period, the SIP will be modified based on the input received. The Met Council will be asked to approve a Final SIP in early 2015.
