Park Siding Park Construction
Crews for the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services Sewer Improvements Project will begin final restoration work at Park Siding Park.
The park will close once this work begins, and is currently anticipated to remain closed as final work on resilient surfacing, playground containers, plantings and other miscellaneous items are completed. Orange fence and signs will designate the closed work area. Temporary parking restrictions adjacent to the park will be in effect at various times as required to move equipment and materials. A follow-up meeting planned for June 5th will allow time to ask additional questions and share concerns about the proposed project. Thanks to Congressman Ellison for making time in his schedule to return to Cedar-Isles-Dean and continue the discussion.

Sewer Construction Update
Cedar Lake Area Sewer Improvements project update: as of May 30, 2014
Park Siding ParkSee Park Siding Park Construction article above. France Ave. S. Final pavement restoration is currently anticipated to begin on France Ave. S. between Sunset Blvd. and Lake St. today (June 4). The roadway is anticipated to remain open to traffic, but traffic shifts and lane restrictions are anticipated to occur as work to remove the temporary pavement, install new concrete curbs and gutters and restore final pavement is completed. The work is anticipated to be completed by early July. Hwy. 7 South Service Rd./Glenhurst Ave. S. Closure ContinuesThe closure of the Hwy. 7 South Service Rd./Glenhurst Ave. S. intersection is anticipated to remain in place for several weeks as work continues. Access to local businesses along the Hwy. 7 South Service Rd. to remains accessible by using Inglewood Ave. S. (for those west of Glenhurst Ave. S.) or France Ave. S. (for those east of Glenhurst Ave. S.). Construction at Kenwood Community Center
Construction is expected to begin in early-mid June.

Park Siding Park Garden Clean Up
Special thanks to garden volunteers.
Thanks to the volunteers who came out to Park Siding Park on May 31st to get the gardens ready for the growing season. It was a beautiful day and the team made great progress. Special thanks to Sherry Brooks from the Park Board for providing expertise, tools/supplies and additional volunteers!

Construction on Lake Street
CenterPoint Energy will be replacing the natural
gas pipeline on Lake Street beginning in late June.
Construction will occur along W Lake Street from Excelsior Blvd to James Ave S (eastbound traffic lane nearest the south curb of Lake St).
The work will also include the replacement of approximately 10 natural gas service lines between James Ave and Dupont Ave S.

Housing Inspection Violations
Every year, Housing Inspections Services has staff out in the neighborhoods to enforce environmental and nuisance violations.
The most common violations staff look for:
- Vegetation overhanging sidewalks, alleys, and street (overhead clearance of 7 feet for sidewalks and 14 for alleys/streets)
- Tall grass and weeds
- Yards with garbage, litter, and trash/debris
- Brush and branch piles
- Inoperable vehicles

Tree Grant Program
CIDNA NRP funds are available to help residents maintain and promote healthy trees in the Cedar-Isles-Dean neighborhood.
Program details: Grants are available to CIDNA property owners to help defray the costs of:
- Removing dead or diseased trees
- Treating diseased trees
- Planting new trees
- Removing buckthorn
The grants for all of the above will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, as funds are available. Effective date as of June 21, 2013 (the solstice storm). Dean Green Tree Planting
Thanks to Don Willeke and the volunteers for planting 25 new trees in Dean Park!
Resident and CIDNA Co-Founder Don Willeke worked with the University of Minnesota and the Park Board to develop a planting plan that added 25 new trees (16 different species) to the area. Volunteers helped with the planting on May 22nd.
