More Apartment Projects for CIDNA?
Two new apartment projects could be in the works for CIDNA.
The first project would be on the property owned by Lakes Limited Partners, the vacant lot to the east of Calhoun Beach Club Apartments at Thomas on W Lake St. CIDNA had previously supported a project on this site by Michael Lander in 2006, but it was withdrawn during the 2008 recession. This project was 84 feet high on Lake Street, stepping down to 2-1/2 stories on the Greenway and 70 feet to the east on the park side. Discussions are just beginning with Greystar Investment Group for a large apartment building on the site. Greystar is developing the largest apartment project in Uptown on the Midtown Greenway at the Bennett Lumber site. The developer has not yet made any proposals. The property is zoned OR2 (mixed commercial and residential use), although the developer apparently intends to develop this site only as apartments. The second project would be on the Tryg's Restaurant site owned by the Truelson family. Trammell Crow Co. could be the developer. They are talking about 150 apartment units. Tryg's may continue to operate a restaurant in the new building. The developer also has not yet proposed a design for the property. This property is zoned C3A (mixed residential and community use). No firm proposals have been presented. ESG would be the architect for both projects. Both developers are reputable national investors. In both cases low and high structure are being considered. Please contact Bob Corrick, Chair of the Land Use Committee (612-927-5599, corrickcidna@gmail.com), with questions or comments. Updates will be posted to http://cidnalanduse.wordpress.com.
