Lake Calhoun/Lake of the Isles Design Study 

 
The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) is taking a fresh look at the landscape between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles.

Popular destinations in the area have led to steadily increasing congestion with accompanying safety concerns. This week, MPRB has been leading a preliminary park design study, organized as a multi-day community design event, or charrette, to engage the public in envisioning the future of the area.

The community will have the opportunity to review and comment on preliminary design options prepared by the design team at the:

Park Siding Park - Playground Restoration   

 
Please join the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board and the Metropolitan Council as they host a public meeting.  
 
This is the first of up to three planning meetings to select new equipment for the Park Siding playground.

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services is replacing the sanitary sewer force main on W 28th St and will need to use the north end of Park Siding for construction and staging. The park's play equipment will be removed in this process, and Met Council will replace it as part of the post-sewer-construction restoration.

Southwest Light Rail Transit Update


Southwest Light Rail Transit     

 
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), which documents the potential impacts of the Southwest Transitway project, was released today. 
 
Please visit www.southwesttransitway.org to access the report and for project updates.

There will be a 60 day period in which the public is invited to comment on the DEIS. Public comments will inform preliminary engineering on the project, which is scheduled to begin in early 2013.

The Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority has scheduled three public hearings to formally gather public comments on the DEIS.  The public hearings will each be preceded by an open house, where people can learn more about the Southwest LRT project and the DEIS.
