The Election's Impact
| | With an intense, hard fought presidential election behind us, many investors have been asking what we can expect now that the results are in. Not surprisingly, here at Frye Financial, we are experiencing widely varying client reactions to the election outcome ranging from those who are sanguine, to some who are absolutely apoplectic. As far as predicting effects on the market , regardless of what claims or prognostications may be emanating from any hysterics among the political/financial punditocracy, history is on the side of cooler heads prevailing. After studying the historical relationship between which party was in power and stock market performance, Pat Dorsey, former director of Morningstar equity research for over 10 years, found that there is no connection. In his words, "There is not one shred of conclusive evidence that stock market returns can be predicted by knowing which party controls Congress or the White House." Dorsey concludes that the only things affecting long term market performance are, "Earnings growth, dividends, and valuation....If you pay a reasonable price for companies that grow and pay dividends, you've hit the trifecta, regardless of who's in office." Our answer to investors' election result questions? We believe, as always, that an effectively balanced portfolio based on a risk adjusted asset allocation model is the best strategy for potential long term investment success regardless of current political events. Planning On Downsizing... Surprisingly, It Is Not Always The Smartest Move
|
|
Many Americans approaching retirement age assume that downsizing their primary residence will be an effective way of lowering their expenses. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, in our current real estate market, downsizing may not always be the wisest move. Many financial planners, in fact, are advising against it in some cases and are guiding clients in seriously analyzing the pros and cons prior to making a decision to downsize.

Congrats Doc!!
We are pleased to recognize our client Kathy Molinet for receiving her Doctorate Degree from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Molinet has quite an impressive resume including being an advisor to the Board of The American Lung Association and Co-President of the Broward County Medical Association.
We can never quite figure out how this outstanding woman finds the time or energy to do all she does including her recent work in a small village as a part of her Church's mission to Africa.
Our hats off to you, Dr. Kathy Molinet!
