Hello and Happy New Year!

In a recent staff meeting, Seth, Robert and I discussed what makes for a positive volunteer experience. We want to serve our volunteers in ways that make their contributions more meaningful and fun.

We look forward to expanding the presence of volunteers here and we would love any input you have for how to improve our volunteer program.

Read on to see the many volunteer opportunities we have for this year!

Cleaning Native Seed
Year-round

Cleaning native seed is a critical step in growing native prairie plants and restoring native prairie. It take a lot of time to property clean the seed we collect each year. Tasks are easy and done indoors. You will have a a project goal and be able to see your progress and end result easily. Great for individuals or groups.

Planting Native Flowers and Grasses
Spring and Fall

We produce thousands of native plants in our greenhouse and out-plant them into our prairie and nursery beds.  Work is performed outdoors and involved bending and kneeling.  Each project has a goal so you can see your progress and end result.  This is appropriate for individuals or groups up to 50.

Collecting Native Seeds
Summer and early Fall

We collect seed from thousands of plants each year and have only accomplished this to date with your help.  Work is performed outdoors and involved some bending or kneeling.  We will train you to identify the right seeds to collect.  This is great for individuals or groups.
