Dear Hillel Academy Family,

Over the past few weeks at Hillel Academy the excitement and energy of Pesach has been in the air. Our students have been getting their Haggadot ready, participating in model Sedarim, and even baked their own Matzah in our backyard matzah oven.

At Hillel we believe, that education is a partnership between school, parents, students, and community. We feel that our school should be a place where the entire Pittsburgh Jewish community can go for its intellectual and spiritual growth in Judaism.

To accomplish this task, two years ago, we began Hillel HYPE (Hillel Youth and Parent Engagement).  Since then HYPE has expanded and now allows Hillel families to take part in various activities and programs such as a monthly Parent-Child Learning event, Family Shabbaton Weekends, Family Skating and Kumzitzs, pre- Yom Tov lectures, and Super Bowl Halftime Learning; additionally, more than sixty five adults have signed up for our weekly HYPE learning classes, taught by Hillel Academy's own faculty. The future is bright, and we look forward to many more successful programs.

Pesach is a time when we celebrate freedom, nationhood, and our unwavering belief in G-d. It is also a time when we reflect on our shared past, yet dream of a better future. At Hillel Academy, the future is positive and bold. For the first time in over a decade we have over 345 students. Our dedicated and talented staff challenges and inspires these students by combining the best of 21st century practices with the wisdom of our Torah sages.

A special HYPE thank you to each of our article contributors, and to Mrs. Elky Langer for her editing.

Have a Chag Kosher V'Sameach,
