Feeling those winter blues? Our

March 16 Curling Challenge is

fabulous fun even if you've never curled before (and a great family-friendly spectator sport if you only want to watch).

See a schedule for the day and register a team at howardcenter.org. Teams will compete for a trophy, curling medals, and prizes for best team name, best costume, and best team spirit.

Proceeds will send our developmentally disabled clients to camp and match youths throughout Chittenden County with caring, trained adult mentors. Thanks to Curling Challenge presenting sponsors Tech Group and Tech Vault.

In the News

Recently, several HowardCenter staff and clients were featured in area publications. We've included a few here:

Many of us have special traditions that mark the start of a new year. For 58-year-old Aldo Ivan Cruz, those traditions involve cooking rice, beans, and pork for New Year's Day. For the past five years, Ivan has been the head chef at HowardCenter's Westview House, serving about 25 lunches a day and preparing special holiday meals. Read more in the Burlington Free Press.

Yankee Magazine CoverThe January/February issue of Yankee Magazine features newly retired HowardCenter psychologist Jon Coffin and his work preparing soldiers for deployment and helping them when they come home. The article is "The Man who Listens to Soldiers."
