Merry Christmas
From
All of the
HCA
Faculty and Staff
May God richly bless you during this Christmas time as we celebrate our dear Saviors birth.
And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:1-11
4 ways to keep Christ in Christmas....
- Read a portion of the Christmas Story from the Bible every day. Take turns reading the story.
- Set a good example by always saying "Merry Christmas" in response to "Happy Holidays" while doing your Christmas shopping.
- Encourage kids to give a "special gift" to Jesus for His Birthday-one that only He knows about. It could be spending more time talking to Him, being kind to a new friend at school or trying harder to include a younger sibling.
- Start Christmas morning by thanking God for the gift of His son, Jesus. You might even bake a special cake and sing!

Dear Amazing HCA Families:
First, I would like to say "Thank You!" Your support of the Mission Dinner and the Chili Cook-off was an incredible blessing. All of the funds raised for the mission trip are used for the materials we need for the construction projects, VBS supplies and other community outreach opportunities. Your generosity is what makes this possible. I wish all of you could go with us to witness how hard our students work and how passionately they serve the Lord as they help those in need. This is our 4th year to return to the same area, one of the most impoverished counties in the nation. Each year we arrive with a plan for things to accomplish. Each year God places people and needs in our path that we could not have anticipated. Sometimes the need is so great that our students use their own spending money in order to help more families.
Some of you have asked about specific ways you can help. Listed below are three areas of need.
1. Donations of clothes, shoes, jackets, blankets, pillows, etc. to distribute at our community outreach.
2. Shoe boxes filled with items for boys or girls (like the Operation Christmas boxes). Please label for boy or girl and appropriate age (0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, teen).
3. Cash donations for additional projects we encounter (which always happens). The more we have, the more families we can
help during our short time there.
Thank you for your support!

High Flying Senior Eagle
Hailee Johnson
College Plans: I plan to attend Texas A & M University and major in nursing or counseling.
Community and school activities: At school I am one the leaders of His Light, a group of students who raise money for families in need and do community service. I play basketball, volleyball and have played softball and track.
My hobbies are: playing sports and hanging out with friends. I also love doing math problems. :)
The words people use to describe me are: loud, leader, motherly
I'm most proud of: The 2013 Senior class. They have stepped up and really filled the role of leadership in the school and have led in a Godly manner. They have reached out to the younger students and I have heard stories about the senior football players leading by being a servant, and I am so proud. I will definitely miss my class but I know God has great plans in store for all of us.
My favorite school subject is: Math! Specifically Calculus because it makes me feel smart even though it's actually simple and anyone could do it (seriously).
The people I'd most like to meet are: The Duggars from 19 Kids and Counting because their children seem so well behaved and well-rounded and I would love to see how a family of 21 does daily chores and activities. Also, they love God with all their hearts and are such an inspiration to me.
The best book I ever read was: To Kill a Mockingbird
My favorite musical artist is: Anyone who sings Country
I wish I knew how to: play an instrument. I love music but have no clue how to play anything.
I get my inspiration from: My parents. I know alot of people say that just because they feel like they have to, but my parents truly are my inspiration. They both pursue God in their relationship and put Him first. They have raised my sister and I to love God with all our hearts. My dad has always worked hard to provide for us so my mom could stay home with Haiden and I. My mom always wants the best for me and Haiden and is an example to me on how to be a mother to my children. Both of my parents love Haiden and I to death, even through our mistakes, and I hope to one day be as good of parents to my children as they are to me.
The best advice I ever received was: "Don't settle for anything less than what God has for you.:
Nobody knows I: am really a Texas Longhorn at heart!

More answers to Dr. Taylor's survey question -
"List three advantages of sending your student(s) to HCA."
* Sports: I love the fact that all children have the opportunity to play sports. Whereas in public school they may not be able to. They may not be big enough, fast enough or athletic enough. But at Heritage, there is no exclusion but rather inclusion and encouragement to be the best they can be.
* Pupil/Teacher Ratio
* More individual attention
