THE CLARION-LEDGER TOP PERFORMERS

Congratulations to Michael Barber for being named a basketball top performer for his performance during JA's win over Potts Camp and Parklane Academy.


Conley Chinn has also been named a basketball top performer for her performance against Memphis Homeschool Association and Parklane Academy.
BASKETBALL TEAMS ATTEND MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES VS MIAMI HEAT GAME

During the Christmas break JA basketball teams traveled to Memphis for tournament play. While there, both teams attended the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Miami Heat game. More than 70 players, coaches, and family members took part. In the Marshall Academy Tournament, the girls beat Memphis Homeschool Association 55-52 and the boys beat Potts Camp 55-43.

LITTLE DRIBBLERS TO PERFORM


Come see the Little Dribblers' next performance January 14 at halftime of the varsity girls game. Little Dribblers are second graders who develop ball handling skills and hand-eye coordination during physical education class. There are 83 Little Dribblers this year.

VISIT THE FACULTY ART SHOW

A Faculty Art Show is scheduled to begin Wednesday, January 13 in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. The work will be on display for two weeks.
FIVE SELECTED FOR MAIS BAND CLINIC



Michael Payne, Alexander Schott, Logan Thomas, Pier Thompson, and Wes Thomas have been selected to participate in the 2016 MAIS Concert Band Clinic January 7-9. This year over 140 student musicians from independent schools around the state---- the most ever---- will make up the two bands for the three-day clinic at Hinds Community College.

MS PREPS ALL STATE TEAM FOR SWIMMING



Congratulations to Malon Stratton, who was named to the MS Preps All State First Team for Swimming. Malon, a junior, won and set MAIS records in the 50 free (25.33) and 50 backstroke (28.61) and helped her team win the 200 freestyle relay. The Office of Marketing and Communications would like to thank everyone who responded in December to the survey designed to help evaluate JA communication tools, such as the Tuesday Raider, the website, general email blasts, and the main JA Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. We had a great response. The responses will assist the department in understanding the value our families place on these tools and whether the tools accomplish their purposes.

Experience Dyslexia
A Learning Difference Simulation

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to have dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, or a central auditory delay? The Experience Dyslexia simulation puts you in the shoes of a person with these learning differences. The exercise is designed to increase awareness of the difficulties and frustrations students encounter daily. Participants will gain insight into working more effectively with children that can lead to greater empathy and understanding.

INTERACT CLUB RAISES FUNDS FOR SUNNYBROOK CHILDREN'S HOME



The Middle School service group, the Interact Club, sponsored a dress up day in December. Students could purchase an armband to dress in holiday clothes for one day. The activity raised over $400, and the funds were given to Sunnybrook Children's Home.
