JA TO PROVIDE COMPLETE THANKSGIVING MEALS TO FAMILIES IN NEED
|
JA students have the opportunity to participate in an annual school-wide Thanksgiving Dinner Drive. City Church has identified over 100 families that need assistance, and we are collecting food to provide them with a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Food will be collected in the hallways of each building November 10-17. Students and classes will help collect, sort, and fill meal boxes. To ensure we have the variety to make complete meals, please use the following guidelines when purchasing food to donate: - Preschool: boxes of Jello or pudding mix
- First, Seventh: rice, stuffing, mashed potatoes
- Second, Eighth: mac and cheese or other pasta
- Third, Ninth: canned vegetables (green beans, peas, corn, etc.)
- Fourth, Tenth: canned fruit-peaches, pears, pineapples, fruit cocktail, applesauce, cranberry sauce
- Fifth, Eleventh: cake mix, brownie mix, cornbread mix
- Sixth, Twelfth: cans or jars of gravy, chicken broth, brown sugar
Donations will be accepted to purchase gift cards for perishables, fresh fruits, vegetables, and turkeys.

The 2015 Cross Country team had a great year under the helm of Head Coach Hunter Murray and Assistant Coach Caleb Canterbury. Both the boys and girls teams had successful seasons with an abundance of new athletes joining the team. The addition of new runners includes athletes such as Nikki Lawrence, Reed Travelstead, Andrew Burks, Karla Brown, Cannon Bosarge, Mackenzie Coburn, Mary Grace Downs, John Moak Scarbrough, Lauren Anne Smith, Chris Mondie, and Ford McDaniel. These young athletes and others stepped up and filled some of the top spots for the team. They show a lot of promise for the years to come. These younger athletes were led by veterans Allan Thomas Pickle, Phillip Talley, Ford Williams, Emery Thigpen, Win Varner, and Ramey Hogue. These veterans provided strong leadership to our growing team by their example of hard work and dedication to each other. Our team included many new additions from the Upper School as well including Mason Glaze, our No. 4 runner of the team and a strong upcoming leader, Trussell Jones, Elliot Butler, and more. Despite being the youngest of the teams racing, JA was consistently competitive against the top schools in the Cross Country arena. With a strong base and many years to come, there is no doubt that JA Cross Country success will only continue to grow. Top Seven Girls Award
