Aggressive Animal Amendments
At its January 15 meeting, the Lake County Board adopted amendments to an ordinance that better protects the public and other animals from animal-aggressive dogs.
In cases where a dog seriously injures or kills another owned animal, Lake County Animal Care and Control can immediately impound the dog and conduct an investigation, which could lead to more serious consequences that range from requiring the dog to be muzzled when outside to humane euthanasia.
Previously, the ordinance had requirements for dangerous or vicious dogs that attacked people or other animals, but there were not stringent requirements for dogs that seriously injured or killed another owned animal.

Sincerely,
Irene Pierce
