Thank you for supporting the Club M, Henry County Mentoring, youth program.

Club M is interested in finding new ways to connect with our mentors, mentees and their families, and the community.

Club M has a new website. Our website http://www.clubm.club/ was launched in September and is a good resource for mentors, mentees and their families, and the community. Our website provides access to our applications, safety information, upcoming events, and more.

If you are interested in the most up to date information from Club M, you can find it by visiting our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ClubM.YouthMentoring. We were able to reach 200 likes during the month of September and we look forward to continuing to grow our presence on social media.

If you are on Twitter, we also encourage everyone to follow us on our Twitter page at https://twitter.com/ClubMMentoring for the latest news about Club M.

School Year Update

It's already October and fall is moving into the area. It's hard to believe that we have already had a month of Club M.

We started a Twitter contest for our mentors and our September winner was an IWC Mentor who had 11 retweets. We are starting over again for the month of October and we are actively looking to engage more of our mentors with our Twitter account.

Club M celebrated Iowa Wesleyan College's Homecoming by decorating one of the windows outside of ISU Extension and Outreach on Main Street where Club M is located and by having a group of mentors and mentees join us in the Homecoming Parade. We had a zoo themed float that tied into the theme of "Welcome to the Jungle." We had a great time recognizing the work of our IWC Mentors by celebrating the week with them. Congratulations goes out to all our mentors who were Homecoming Royalty this year!

On October 1st, Club M took the week off to allow our youth mentees and our high school mentors the opportunity to enjoy their Homecoming weeks in both Winfield-Mount Union and Mount Pleasant but we were back to Club M on October 8th.

The Staff of Club M took a trip to West Des Moines on October 6th and 7th for the Iowa Mentoring Partnership Fall Conference to continue our professional development and we hope to bring back what we've learned to continue to strengthen our program.

Important Event Notice: Club M and Iowa Wesleyan College are holding its first collaborative community clean-up event on Sunday, October 26th, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the United Thru Play Playground at the location of the former Saunders School as part of Make A Difference Day! Make A Difference Day is a national day of service movement that occurs that weekend in October. We would love to invite all of our mentees and their families to come join us as we clean-up a park that is important to our youth in the community. Dress appropriately as this event will occur rain or shine. Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring gloves if you wish to wear them. We welcome everyone to join us that day but if you know in advance that you can come, please fill out our registration form https://clubm.wufoo.com/forms/make-a-difference-day-community-cleanup/ so that we have an estimate of volunteers. Please contact Chelsea White at chelsea.white@iwc.edu for more information. Thank You!

Once you have registered you will be able to receive all of the bully prevention resources, videos, facts,
and fun ideas to raise awareness about bullying including the fact that 13 million American kids will be bullied this year, making it the most common form of violence experienced by young people in the nation(The Bully Project).
