 Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Community awareness about abuse and neglect can strengthen communities and build support for children and their families in the effort to prevent child abuse.

Some sobering statistics about child abuse:
1.  A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds.
2.  The most common cause of death in children under the age of 6 is child abuse
3.  One out of every 4 children will experience some form of sexual abuse before they turn 18.

By being a trusted adult in a child's life, you can be a safe, supportive person for them to confide in about all areas of their lives.  Children thrive when there is someone who cares about them!

Mentor for a Day

On March 23rd, our Mentor for the Day event was held at the Iowa Wesleyan campus and was a huge success!  We matched 31 Henry County children with a mentor to play games, eat lunch and have FUN!  Thank you to the parents, mentors and IWC faculty!  And a special thank you to the 28 students of University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse
who stopped by Mt. Pleasant to help out while on their alternative spring break!
