DONATION OPPORTUNITY
Donate your Eyeglasses, Reading Glasses, or Sunglasses
In Togo, West Africa, it is extremely difficult for visually impaired people to obtain eyeglasses. An eye exam costs as much as one month's wage and a pair of eyeglasses can cost up to four months of wages. A pair of eyeglasses is life changing for a child struggling in school, the elderly with failing vision, and adults who have never been able to see clearly. To date, Alaffia has collected and distributed 5,700 pairs of glasses, and employs an optometrist in Togo to correctly fit and distribute them. Drop off your eyeglasses, reading glasses, or sunglasses in the wellness department of either store through June 30.

BOOK REVIEW
New Book Demystifies the Time-Honored Tradition of Seed Saving
Filled with advice for the home gardener and the seasoned horticulturist alike, The Seed Garden: The Art and Practice of Seed Saving provides straightforward instruction on collecting seed. Seed Savers Exchange, one of the foremost American authorities on the subject, and the Organic Seed Alliance bring together decades of seed-saving know how for more than 75 crops--from heirloom tomatoes and long-favored cultivars of beans, lettuces, and cabbages to century-old varieties of peppers and grains.
This book teaches readers how to go about preserving these important plants for future generations and for next year's garden. It also teaches the reader just why it is important to save seeds from these genetically valuable plant varieties, which have evolved over the centuries through careful selection by farmers and home gardeners.
