Newsletter #12
GGCN Header
Dear Co-Laborer in Christ:

The Global Great Commission Network's vision is a "grassroots" movement that is part of seeing every people group reached and in the process of being discipled in this generation. Our value statements include:

  • We exist to broadly encourage collaboration and partnerships.
  • We stimulate worldwide mission efforts that promote the making of disciples of every people in this generation.
  • We recognize that finishing the task will demand effective cooperative efforts of the entire global body of believers.
This newsletter highlights two resources directly related to our values.  The first article is an exciting update of the GCnetwork, a practical tool designed to enhance opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and communication.  The second article reviews a new book for spiritual leaders that is all about practical discipleship: Ryan Shaw's book Spiritual Equipping for Mission.  Check out the second article and book review.

As always we appreciate hearing from you with any updates of your ministry.  You might also check out the GGCN India update at www.ggcn.org/india/.   GGCN local coordinating teams are now functioning in both India and Africa.

GCnetwork (GCn) Update and Mobile App News
The GCn is a mission focused social networking tool created to be a secure environment where missions collaboration is facilitated.  Already we are hearing testimonials of how the GCn is aiding mission workers in many ways including: connecting mission workers to valuable resources; helping to initiate new friendships; providing a platform for championing a cause and attracting partnership as well as prayer support; and the sharing of ideas, strategies and information.

Earlier this year we made the decision to put our GCn rollout on hold awaiting a major mobile platform update to our GCn software. We are excited to announce this platform will launch early in 2015.  Existing members will receive information about how they can update to our newest platform.

This new platform will make our rollout and adoption around the world much easier. Our members will no longer have to use a web interface to sign up for or connect on GCn.  We will be able to feature resources from partner networks and members.  It also brings with it a host of new and exciting features.

You will now be able to access the GCn on your iPhone,

Android, tablet or desktop.  We will be launching a brand new App making the user experience fit the rhythm of daily life, so it's one click away no matter where you are.

The GCn makes sharing and receiving prayer
requests fast and intuitive.  The newly redesigned Prayer Wall helps those in need be prayed for and supported instantly.  You will still be able to add comments and send words of encouragement.

The Serve feature gives our members a place to ask for help and mobilize organic volunteer opportunities. It accelerates ministry by making needs known and by organizing the efforts to help.  Our hope is that this continues to encourage a spirit of collaboration.

With the Learning features members will be able to watch or listen to shared content including archived and live-streaming. Members can catch training resources or podcasts, whatever the content, here and discuss it together.

With a new and improved Calendar app we will make it easier than ever to have a shared Global calendar. This is a place where you can feature your conference or event and invite friends from around the world.

The Discussion Board gives members and groups a place to meet and talk about what is important to them. The Discussion Board is also a great place to share documents and collaborate on just about anything.

The new Classifieds app will allow members to exchange goods and services within their trusted mission or church community.

The possibilities are endless.  We truly believe that GCn has the potential to revolutionize how we connect, communicate and collaborate as the mission world fulfilling the Great Commission.

Book Review - Spiritual Equipping for Mission by Ryan Shaw
God calls his people to mission. But the demands of crosscultural ministry can be overwhelming and draining , leading to discouragement and burnout. All of our strategies and methodologies for reaching others are useless if we are incapable of living the holy, faithful lives God intends for us. Yet God does not leave us on our own.  The Holy Spirit equips us to succeed and thrive spiritually in preparation of becoming God's message bearers in the world.

Spiritual formation and discipleship are at the core of effective and fruitful mission. Mission professional Ryan Shaw unpacks ten fundamental spiritual keys we need to practice to have a successful outer global witness. He shows how we can partner with God to experience Jesus' transforming power and presence, with practical insights for praying, growing and persevering as God's servants in the world.

God is calling a new generation to serve long-term to fulfill the Great Commission. The Holy Spirit is at work within us to equip and enable mission workers in and out of the field. Discover how you can become who God wants you to be as his ambassador to the world.  (See  Marvin Newell's book review.)

When Can I Get the GCnetwork Mobile App?
